Four students of Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM) succeeded getting the 2nd place in STAR Case Competition held by Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University Rotterdam on 11-15 April 2016. Those four students are; I Putu Takumi Wijaya (Department of Management), Selma Elvita Rani (Department of Accounting), Santika Wibowo (Department of Accounting) dan Nela Navida (Department of Economics), had been successfully won the 2nd place after finishing a business case in 24 hours. "This is a challenging case about Amsterdam Schiphol Airport", said Santika.

STAR Case Competition is an international business case competition which challenge participants (students) to give solutions to the real business case. There were 9 famous universities or business school accredited by AACSB following the final round, some of them were; Erasmus University, National University of Singapore, University of Washington Seattle and University of St. Petersburg Russia. "From the beginning of the competition, this will be a tough competition as it was said by the faculty management and lecturers", cited Takumi.

Before finishing the case, the participants were invited to directly see the company’s condition in Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. All of the participants were divided into three groups to observe those companies’ business process. Then in the following day, participants did the case for 24 hours non-stops. The competition was started on 14 April 2016 at 09.00 am and was finished at 15 April 2016 by 09.00 am.

"After the case had been finished, we presented directly the result in front of the Amsterdam Schiphol Airport top management," Selma said. In the preliminary round, the FEB UGM’s team had set aside Chulalongkorn University Thailand and University of Washington Seattle. In the final round, the team had to face others 2 winners from the other groups, which were University of St. Petersburgh Russia and University of St. Gallen Swiss. After giving presentation before numbers of other participants and juries, the team finally won the 2nd place. “We had done the best, and the result was something we were grateful for”, said Nela.
