Economics student of Undergraduate Study Program Faculty of Economics and Business UGM succeeded to become the winner of The Annual 10th Ling Art Essay Competition (LAEC) 2017 Faculty of Languages and Arts Universitas Negeri Semarang (FBS UNNES). In this national-scale essay competition, Fernandi Army and his partner, Natasha Christanti (SV UGM English), got the 1st winner and the throphy was presented by Governor of Central Java. This very proud achievement certainly cannot be separated from the support of various parties, including support from internal FEB UGM and external FEB UGM.

LAEC Competition is an annual national competition essay organized by Badan Semi Otonom Keilmiahan under the authority of Badan Eksekutif Mahasiswa FBS UNNES, named Lingua Artistica (Ling Art). This competition is an academic activity to hold "Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi". In this year's competition, LAEC was attended by more than 100 teams from various national universities. After going through the abstract preliminary round, the top 15 teams (finalists) were selected to present the essay. Technically, each team should present their essay through presentation followed by a question and answer session. The adjudicator would assess and asked questions to the participant.

The purpose of the competition is to increase relationship and strengthen cooperation from all of the national university. The competition, which held from 29 September to 01 October, was participated by students of Universitas Indonesia, Institut Pertanian Bogor, Universitas Negeri Semarang, and other universities. This competition gave a real positive impact for IE FEB UGM students and proved the quality of FEB UGM in the national scale. The winner, Fernandi Army, hopes that this achievement will be a trigger for FEB UGM students and increase the motivation to get more achievements. "It is expected that through this prestigious achievement, FEB UGM students can be inspired to become outstanding students and give real contribution to UGM."
