MACC 2018

A team of undergraduate students from the Accounting Department of Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM) won the first place in the MAKSI Accounting Competition (MACC) 2018 which was held on September 28, 2018. The team consisted of Dominikus Belfast Panindya (Accounting 2015), Anggit Budi Pawestri (Accounting 2015) and Bernadus Ade Febrianto Nugroho (Accounting 2015).

MAKSI Accounting Competition 2018 (MACC 2018) is part of the Accounting Competition & Strategic Seminar 2018 (ACCESS 2018) which organized by Master of Accounting Student Association (HIMMA) Universitas Gadjah Mada. ACCESS 2018 consisted of Strategic Seminar, Call for Essays, and Maksi Accounting Competition. The MACC 2018 was held nationally and was attended by ten teams from various universities in Indonesia.

The MACC 2018 consisted of three phases of selection, which were the online prelimination stage, semifinal stage and final stage. The final stage was held at the Learning Center Building of FEB UGM. Four teams were selected to continue to the final stage, including one team from FEB UGM, two teams from Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta and one team from STIE Perbanas Surabaya. In the final stage, the selected teams have to compete in the accounting debate competition, in which the debates itself was split into the semifinal stage and the final stage. Three teams with the highest score were entitled to be champions of MACC 2018. The team from FEB UGM managed to win the first place after defeating the STIE Perbanas Surabaya team in the final stage of the debate competition by motion of “Green Accounting: Will It Increase Company’s Profit?”.
