The 'Navy Rangers' team consisting of students from Universitas Gadjah Mada, University of Melbourne, and Melbourne CIC Higher Education won third place in the Australia-ASEAN Youth Summit (AAYS) Case Competition 2018 held by ASEAN Youth Organization of Australia (AYO Australia). The team consists of Veronika Xaveria (IUP Business 2016 - Double Degree Program at the University of Melbourne), Jun Wei Ang, Yifan Wang and Yennie (Tran Hai Yen) Len. Conferences and competitions attended were held at Jasper Hotel Melbourne, Australia on Saturday, August 25, 2018.

The Indonesian Student Debate Competition (KDMI) is a competition organized by the Directorate General of Learning and Student Affairs (Ditjen Belmawa) of the Republic of Indonesia. This competition uses the Asian Parliamentary System. The Asian Parliamentary System (APS) system is a system which adopted from the debate competition system between Asia Pacific universities.

Two undergraduate students of Faculty of Economics and Business UGM has successfully claimed the "Champion" and "2nd runner up" trophy in the Maybank Go Ahead. Challenge 2018 which was held by Maybank on 5th until 15th August 2018 at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

A students team from Undergraduate Program of the Faculty of Economics and Business Faculty of Universitas Gadjah Mada University (FEB UGM) received the "World Top's Best 10 Case Winner" award in the international competition "World Asian Case Competition 2018" held by Academy of Asian Business on AAB's 4th Annual International Conference. The team consisted of Christopher Alvin Sudarmo (Management IUP 2016), Nathalia Faustina Halim (Management IUP 2016) and Phelia Myrna (Economics IUP 2016). The conference was held at Sungkyunkwan University, South Korea on Saturday, August 11, 2018.

The UGM’s Mino team has earned another international achievement by winning a world competition titled Ideas for Action 2018. Previously, the team also won a world championship in a food security innovation competition, Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) 2018, in Cambodia.

A team of UGM students has successfully invented a long-lasting perfume without repeated sprays on the body.
The innovation is called BroFume, a body fragrance product in the form of solid perfume gel created as an accessory, such as brooches. The product was invented by students from Faculty of Pharmacy, namely Anisah Nur Masyitoh, Fikhi Aprilia Sepondra, Kania Dwi Fatimah, and Silvia Yudha Prastika, as well as Khusna Fatmawati from Faculty of Economics and Business.
