A total of 24 new international students of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM) attended the campus orientation program, Orientation Day, organized by FEB UGM on Tuesday, February 4, 2025. These 24 international students comprise 22 undergraduate exchange students and two dual degree students.
The students come from 13 universities in seven countries and are enrolled in three programs: 20 in Management, three in Economics, and one in Accounting.
The Orientation Day is part of FEB UGM’s campus introduction program for international students. It provides insights into the academic environment, culture, and various campus facilities available to support their studies. During the event, students received essential information about the three study programs, learning processes at FEB, academic administration, campus facilities and services, regulations, and Indonesian culture.
FEB UGM’s Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, Bayu Sutikno, S.E., M.S.M., Ph.D., warmly welcomed the 24 international students for the even semester of the 2024/2025 academic year. He emphasized that their presence reflects FEB UGM’s status as a leading global business school.
“We hope you enjoy your learning journey here. If you ever feel confused or have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact GREAT,” he said on Tuesday (4/2/2024).
Meanwhile, Dr. Arizona Mustikarini, Head of the Global Relations and Mobility Unit (GREAT), expressed her hope that international students would gain valuable experiences during their studies at FEB UGM, including a deeper understanding of Indonesian culture, especially that of Yogyakarta.
During the session, students were also briefed on FEB UGM’s academic regulations, including attendance policies, credit system, course evaluation, and campus behavior guidelines.
Michelle Hansen Ravndal, a TBS Education, Norway student, found the orientation day very helpful. She appreciated the opportunity to get important academic information while exploring the campus.
“Today’s event was exciting! I got to tour the faculty. During my studies here, I hope to deepen my economics and business knowledge,” she said.
Zunaina Hussain, a student from Lahore University of Management Sciences, Pakistan, shared a similar sentiment. She found the orientation insightful and beneficial in understanding Indonesian culture and campus regulations.
“Today’s event was very insightful. It helped me learn about Indonesian culture. I hope to gain new perspectives from Indonesia, which are different from those in my home country,” she stated.
In addition to Orientation Day, the international students will participate in Cultural Immersion Day (CID) on Friday (7/2) at Desa Wisata Kembang Arum, Turi District, Sleman Regency. This event aims to introduce students to Indonesian culture, particularly Yogyakarta.
