The Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM), once again organized an Intensive Training in Accounting, Institutional Finance, and Computerized Accounting for SMKN 1 Teluk Bintuni, West Papua students. This intensive training is a concrete manifestation of FEB UGM’s commitment to supporting equitable, high-quality, and sustainable education in Papua, which aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

A total of 17 students will participate in the training, which will take place from July 14 to August 29, 2025. This program is a collaboration between the Center for Accounting Education Studies (PKAP) and the Center for Information Systems Studies (PKSI) under the Research and Development of Accounting (RDSI) at FEB UGM.

In his opening remarks, Gumilang Aryo Sahadewo, S.E., M.A., Ph.D., Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, Collaboration, and Alumni at FEB UGM, expressed his hope that this training would have a long-term impact on the students of SMKN 1 Teluk Bintuni.

“The opportunities you will experience over the next few weeks can become a strong foundation for taking on greater responsibilities. In ten years, you could be trusted to become leaders in your respective regions,” he said at the opening of the Intensive Training in Accounting, Institutional Finance, and Computerized Accounting on Monday (14/7) in the Audio Visual Room (T-103), FEB UGM.

Meanwhile, the Center for Accounting Education Studies Coordinator at FEB UGM, Arika Artiningsih, Ph.D., CFE, encouraged the students who will undergo the seven-week training. The students will learn directly from FEB UGM lecturers throughout the training on accounting-related topics.

“Besides being guided by facilitators, you will also learn directly from FEB UGM lecturers who will teach subjects according to their expertise. This experience is like living away from home, so don’t hesitate to ask questions if you encounter difficulties, whether with the material or daily campus life,” she said.

The Head of the Basic Education Division of the Education, Culture, Youth, and Sports Office of Teluk Bintuni Regency, Solikhudin, S.Pd., M.Pd., expressed his appreciation for the collaboration between the Regional Government of Teluk Bintuni Regency and FEB UGM in organizing this intensive training for SMKN 1 Teluk Bintuni students. He hopes this training will equip students with accounting and entrepreneurial knowledge, enabling them to become young entrepreneurs and create job opportunities in Teluk Bintuni.

“Hopefully, you can make the most of this opportunity and use it as a stepping stone to continue your education to a higher level,” he explained.

The students will receive direct lessons from FEB UGM lecturers during the training. They will study financial accounting, accounting digitalization, and Teaching Factory activities that involve direct practice with MSMEs. They will also engage in tutorials and practical sessions using SIDEK-Edu and SIDEK-ERP applications developed by the FEB UGM Accounting Laboratory.
