Normalita Oktaviantini, S.Ak., financial staff of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Gadjah Mada University (FEB UGM), won the award for Inspirational Education Staff in the Field of Planning, Finance, and Infrastructure at the 2025 UGM Outstanding Individuals Awards.
The award won by Via, as she is affectionately known, is inseparable from the innovative proposal she made: the Integrated Teaching Honorarium Payment System. The system that she developed to improve the efficiency, accuracy, and transparency of the honorarium payment process.
“This innovation is a tangible form of my contribution to supporting digital transformation at UGM, particularly in modern and accountable financial management,” she said on Monday (29/12/2025) at FEB UGM.
Via explained that, before this innovation was implemented, the teaching fee payment system operated independently. The academic unit manually verified lecturers’ teaching loads (SKS) using Excel, while the finance unit calculated teaching fees for workloads exceeding 4 SKS using Excel, before entering the data into the finance system.simaster information system.
This condition slowed down the verification process between the academic and finance units. Additionally, the system failed to integrate lecturers’ teaching data and payments across study programs, creating a risk of data duplication and inconsistencies in honorarium calculations.
She added that the previous system did not support real-time reporting, data documentation, or monitoring.
The development of this innovation has had a tangible impact on the work unit, namely, increased efficiency and accuracy in financial administration processes. The process of submitting and paying honoraria, which was previously manual, is now faster and more efficiently documented. The system also minimises the potential for human error, speeds up the verification process between the academic and finance departments, and provides a portal for lecturers to view detailed information on their teaching honoraria. Overall, the implementation of this system has successfully increased productivity, data accuracy, and the quality of financial services in the faculty.
With this achievement, he hopes to inspire and motivate other educators, including financial managers, to develop practical innovations that support the business processes of work units and universities.
