SNAC UKSW 2024

A team of accounting students from the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB UGM) has achieved remarkable success in the Satya Wacana National Accounting Competition (SNAC) 2024, organized by the Accounting Study Group of the Satya Wacana Christian University (UKSW). The team, known as Bil, consisting of Aditya Kurniawan (Accounting 2021), Philip Jakobus Sidabukke (Accounting 2021), and Ripatina Salsabila (Accounting 2021), secured the 1st place after outperforming four other teams in the grand finals held on June 29, 2024.

The Satya Wacana National Accounting Competition (SNAC UKSW) is a prestigious national accounting competition involving accounting students from various universities across Indonesia. The competition aims to test each team’s auditing knowledge and skills while encouraging students to develop and showcase their auditing skills by applying auditing theories and concepts to real-world business scenarios. The event also aims to foster a competitive spirit and collaborative skills among the participants.

Aditya explained that Team Bil’s success came after several rigorous stages of competition. First, all participants had to go through three phases of the competition: preliminary, semifinal, and final, which took place over several months. In the first round, participants were tasked with solving a case related to a 4G BTS project from either an external or internal audit perspective. After a rigorous selection process, the five teams with the highest scores advanced to the semifinal round. In the semifinals, participants faced a crossword puzzle related to external audits, internal audits, and information systems, as well as a quiz that thoroughly tested each team’s knowledge.

In the final round, the finalists were tasked to present a case on auditor independence, focusing on a scenario where an external auditor was asked to perform internal audit work. The case involved a complex business scenario where the auditor’s independence was at stake. Team Bil, acting as the opposing team, demonstrated exceptional analytical skills and understanding, ultimately securing 1st place at SNAC UKSW 2024.

Aditya expressed his gratitude for the win. He attributed the victory to the team’s hard work and unity throughout the competition. “We participated in this competition during the final exam period, so we had to balance our preparation for SNAC 2024 with studying for finals. Alhamdulillah, we were fortunate to win 1st place in this competition,” he said.

He hopes that this achievement will inspire other students to continue to excel and develop their skills in accounting. This victory is a tangible example that success can be achieved through hard work and perseverance.
