Inauguration Learning Center Building FEB UGM by the Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education

On Saturday, 4th August 2018, Faculty of Economics and Business of Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM) inaugurated the learning center building. The event took place on the 1st floor hall of learning center building at 08.30 WIB. The inauguration of the learning center building was attended by the Dean of FEB UGM, Eko Suwardi, Rector of UGM, Panut Mulyono, President Commissioner of PT Jakarta Setiabudi Internasional, Tbk., Paul Capelle, President Director of PT Djarum, Tbk., Primadi H Sierad, President Director of PT Sasmito, Ir. Sutikno, Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia, Mohamad Nasir, President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of AACSB International, Tom Robinson, several deans of other tertiary business schools, former Dean of FEB UGM and lecturers of FEB UGM.

The event was opened with a speech from the Dean of FEB UGM, Eko Suwardi. Continued by the speech given by Primadi H Sierad as Director of PT Djarum, Tbk. and Panut Mulyono as the Rector of UGM. Finally, it was closed by the speech from the Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education, Mohammad Nasir.

In his remarks, Mohammad Nasir said that the learning center building FEB UGM should not only be used as a building but also used as well as possible by students. Good utilization of the learning center building can improve the quality of education. Nasir added that the quality of higher education needs to be improved with a corporate management system.

According to Nasir, the quality of UGM as a provider of higher education in Indonesia has increased. This was indicated by the increase in UGM’s ranking in the QS Global Word Ranking from 401 to 391. However, the ranking of other universities in the world also increased. “This is a challenge for universities to compete with other universities in the world. Living in a university is willing to take risks or avoid risks” Nasir added.

After the welcoming session, the event continued with the signing of the inscription inaugurating the learning center building by Mohammad Nasir. Then, the opening of the inscription curtain was done by the parties who worked together in the construction of the learning center building. The inauguration program was closed with a tour of the learning center building. The group of invited guests was invited to see the facilities on the 7th and 8th floors containing the discussion room and auditorium. In addition, the learning center building also has library facilities, reading room, collection room, computer room and training room. The facility can accommodate the needs of lecturers and students for new learning concepts such as collaborative classroom, project based learning, and experimental research methods.
