Stephanus Wicardo - KarirLab

To prepare graduates who are ready to work, the Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM) on Friday (5/11) held a #FEBInvinity Webinar with the theme of Career Preparation. This webinar is held online through the Zoom Meetings platform. Discussing and discussing tips on making a Curriculum Vitae (CV) and interview tricks. Moderator at this webinar is Cita Amalia Husna event (Accounting Student of Batch 2019) and presents a resource person, Stephanus Wicardo, Co-Founder of KarirLab.

For information, KarirLab is a digital career development service that provides professional resume evaluation (Power Resume), providing self-development and career classes. KarirLab Born and incubated at Yale University, USA and has partnered with various universities in Indonesia.

Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs Prof. Mahfud Sholihin, PhD. open seminars. “KarirLab has had a lot of experience, starting to provide consultation on how to compose a CV, prepare for interviews. From this webinar, it is hoped that once students graduate, they will have a plus point and will be immediately accepted to work,” said Prof. Mahfud.

Stephanus explained about writing a good and correct CV/Resume. He started his presentation by suggesting the Write, Research, List (TTD) framework for CareerLab Resume Writing, Writing is to find the template format you want, write a list of your experiences and achievements, then start mapping it to the resume template.

Thorough is to see if there are errors in typing or grammar, to writing that is not clear, besides that, it is also necessary to re-examine the resume to match the job description of the intended job. After the thorough process is complete, the next step is to register. He suggested that it is necessary to save the resume in PDF format, mark the version, and then apply for a job.

He suggests making a resume in ATS Friendly format. According to him, the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) is often used to sort or screen resumes sent from job seekers based on the qualifications required by recruiters.

“Based on research conducted by Jobscan, almost all Fortune 500 companies have used ATS software to facilitate the CV/Resume selection process,” said Stephanus.

After that, he explained how to write a correct, concise, but comprehensive resume, and then went on to discuss interview tips. According to Stephanus, the main purpose of the interview is for the company to get to know us and vice versa, we get to know the company being applied for. He explained that before the interview it is necessary to do research about the company and the position we are aiming for. During the interview process, he emphasized that it is necessary to be yourself, build a good impression, and communicate effectively.

“Don’t spend all your energy looking for a job after college, don’t FOMO, you are at your own pace, don’t look at other people as a comparison, because your effort will be less than optimal. Do your best, give maximum effort and prepare”, said Stephanus for students and fresh graduates.
