Dies Natalis MEP 27

In commemoration of their 27th Anniversary, the Masters in Development Economics (MEP) Study Program of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM) celebrated by holding a Tasyakuran event on Friday (03/06). The Tasyakuran event consisted of several agendas and was carried out both offline and online by inviting the entire MEP FEB UGM academic community.

The event began with remarks from the Head of the Master in Developmental Economics Study Program, FEB UGM, Akhmad Akbar Susamto, Ph.D. Based on his remarks, MEP FEB UGM has experienced extraordinary development since its establishment in 1995. Until today, it has succeeded in graduating as many as 4,863 alumnis spread across various regions of Indonesia. Akbar said that in the future, MEP UGM would not only be committed to supporting the nation’s economic development, but to be a leader at the forefront who determines the economic direction. In addition, he also thanked all parties who have contributed to MEP FEB UGM throughout all these years. “Hopefully all contributions given to this study program will be classifed as a never-ending act of charity,” he said.

Next was Prof. Dr. Didi Achjari SE, M.Com, Akt, the Dean of FEB UGM’s turn to deliver his remarks. Prof. Didi advised that MEP FEB UGM must not forget the Indonesianness that we have by continuing to be strongly locally rooted (mengakar kuat), not just soar above (menjulang tinggi). He also hopes that all MEP FEB UGM students are individuals who have potential and will later be able to contribute to Indonesia. The event was continued with a prayer reading and a procession of cutting the tumpeng by the Head of the MEP FEB UGM Study Program, the Dean of FEB UGM, and the General Chair of the MEP FEB UGM Students.

There was something different about this year’s MEP FEB UGM Anniversary celebration. Unlike previous years, MEP FEB UGM changed their tagline and coinciding with this very celebration, their new tagline was officially launched. The MEP FEB UGM tagline changed from “Committed to Development” to “Leading in Economic Development.” In addition, at this year’s celebration, MEP FEB UGM also held an awarding event for the best education staff, students, and alumni in 2022.

The award for the best MEP FEB UGM education staff in 2022 was based on the assessment of aspects like work culture, performance, and leadership. The awards were given to four best educational staff. The best student award for 2022, which was given by MEP FEB UGM for the first time ever, went to Abi Fadillah. The awarding was based on two main aspects, namely academic and non-academic, such as competition experience, national and international conferences, and achievements in the field of sports and/or arts. Finally, the best alumni award was given to F. Iwan Karantika, M.Si based on several criteria, including the concept of development innovation to address issues and demonstration of leadership.
