FEB UGM

Who wants to study at the UGM Faculty of Economics and Business? It is no longer a secret that studying at FEB UGM is the target of many prospective students. Graduates from this faculty are always sought after by many companies nationally and abroad.

It’s not surprising that many companies are competing for their graduates. This is because the quality of education at FEB UGM has received international recognition. FEB UGM succeeded in achieving AACSB International accreditation and became Indonesia’s first accredited business school on May 12, 2014. Meanwhile, at the national level, it has been accredited as Superior by the Independent Accreditation Institute for Economics, Business Management and Accounting (LAMEMBA).

Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) UGM, Prof. Dr. Didi Achjari, M.Com., Ak., C.A., said that FEB UGM provides three undergraduate study programs: Business Management Study Program, Accounting Study Program, and Economics Study Program. These study programs allow students to obtain theories, concepts and case studies in accounting, economics and management.

“We want to become a leading Faculty of Economics and Business and nurture future-ready leaders in economics and business to develop sustainable aspects,” he said on Monday (22/4).

Didi said that FEB UGM is developing education and learning in an integrated process with learning inside and outside the classroom to produce future-ready leaders graduates. Programs to build soft skills development activities, career preparation and student wellness facilities are also carried out by FEB UGM. Learning innovations are likewise implemented to improve the skills needed for future work in the form of self-leadership, digital fluency, critical and design thinking, resilience and entrepreneurship for business organizations, government and society on a local, national and international scale.

“We are developing teaching innovations such as case-based learning, project-based learning, and experiential learning so that the resulting graduates can achieve competencies in line with job market needs,” explained Didi.

As a leading business school, Didi said that FEB UGM has an extensive collaboration network with various partners both at the national and global levels. FEB UGM has collaborated with more than 76 partners in Asia, America, Australia, and Europe and has organized exchange and double degree programs and summer courses. FEB UGM has also been one of the initiators of the Partnership of Asian Management Schools (PAMS) since 2020 by collaborating with four partner universities, namely Woosong University, Foreign Trade University, Sun Yat-sen University, and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.

What majors are there?

Want to know more about study programs at FEB UGM? To better understand the study programs at FEB UGM, let’s look at the following information.

Three study programs at FEB have high selectivity in accepting new students yearly. In 2023, the selectivity for the Bachelor in Business Management study program was 1:43, which means that only 1 out of 43 applicants was accepted. Then, the selectivity of the Accounting study program was 1:33, which means that only 1 out of 33 applicants was accepted. Next, the Economics study program has a selectivity of 1:24, which means that only 1 out of 24 applicants was accepted.

So, what will you learn when you enroll in the Accounting Study Program? This program provides an understanding of accounting theories, concepts and principles. It also prepares students with the ability to perform and analyze financial reporting, auditing, and management control systems.

Next, in the Economics Study Program, students will be given an understanding of macro and microeconomic theory to solve economic problems. In addition, this program equips students with specialized knowledge about development economics, business economics, monetary economics, public economics, and international economics.

While in the Business Management Study Program, students will learn about theory, case studies, and the application of finance, marketing, operations, strategic management and human resources.

“FEB UGM is also making curriculum adjustments to ensure the relevance of contributions to society and the needs of the business and industrial world. One of them is adding aspects of technology and information systems to the education curriculum and including aspects of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in several courses,” explained Didi.

Khansa Mahira Najla (20), a student at the FEB UGM Economics Study Program, admitted that studying at FEB UGM was one of the big dreams of her life. She fought hard to make her dream come true. After graduating from high school, she took part in the selection to enter UGM with her first choice at FEB UGM. Unfortunately, good luck was not on her side; at that time, she was accepted as the second choice outside UGM. While studying in her second year, she tried her luck by trying again to participate in the UGM entrance selection with FEB as her choice. The results were consistent with her efforts. Finally, Khansa was accepted into the Economics Study Program, FEB UGM.

“I’ve always liked economics, so I’m thrilled to finally be part of FEB UGM. The facilities are very supportive, and the supportive environment makes us even more motivated to study hard,” explained this class of 2022 student.
