Indonesia’s capital market has immense potential. Unfortunately, it remains under-utilized, with only a tiny fraction of the population participating. However, this situation represents a significant opportunity for securities firms to attract new investors.
This was the message conveyed by Mirae Asset Sekuritas’ Director of Retail Business and Research, Tomi Taufan, during the Executive Series MBA FEB UGM themed “Strategic Excellence in Building Indonesia’s Leading Securities Firm” on Friday 8 November at the Sukadji Ranuwihardjo Auditorium, MM FEB UGM, Yogyakarta Campus.
Tomi emphasized that with the right approach, the public can be encouraged to view the capital market as an attractive and accessible investment option. With the right strategies and digital transformation, Indonesia’s capital market can become a pillar of inclusive economic growth for all segments of society.
During the session, Tomi also discussed efforts to promote the democratization of the capital market. He believes that all Indonesians should have equal opportunities to invest. As one of Indonesia’s leading securities firms, Mirae Asset has expanded its distribution network to 47 locations nationwide. By understanding customer needs and providing inclusive services, Mirae Asset is committed to widening access so that the public can actively participate in the capital market.
“Wherever Indonesians are, they should have the same right to benefit from capital market products,” Tomi emphasized.
He also pointed out that digital transformation will be a crucial focus in the future to improve productivity and efficiency. Securities firms such as Mirae Asset continue to innovate with technology-based business models to address market challenges. In addition, long-term strategic planning is essential to remain competitive over the next 5 to 10 years and ensure business sustainability amidst market changes.
