Professor of Faculty of Economics and Business UGM who is former finance minister, Prof. Dr. Bambang Sudibyo, M.B.A., supported the measure taken by President Joko Widodo to accelerate agrarian reform program and asset redistribution through the distribution of some 12.7 million hectares of land to the society. According to Bambang, if well implemented, the policy will be able to reduce the social imbalance or gini ratio of Indonesia which currently stays at 0.41.

Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) UGM held Orientation Day for the incoming international students in Audiovisual Room FEB UGM. Orientation Day, a regular event held by the Office of International Affairs (OIA) UGM, was opened with a welcome dance performances. Dean of the Faculty, Eko Suwardi, Ph. D delivered an opening speech. He was accompanied by Mahfud Sholihin, Ph.D. (Vice Dean of Academic and Student Affairs) and Amirullah Setya Hardi, Ph.D. (Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, Cooperation and Alumni). In the second semester of this academic year 2016/2017, FEB UGM would be the home from 28 students from 7 countries i.e. Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, France, Spain, Japan, and Taiwan.

Four delegations from the Centre for Management Practices Singapore Management University (SMU) visited Faculty of Economoics and Business UGM on Tuesday, December 6, 2016. They were Dr. Philip Charles Zerrillo (Executive Director, Centre for Management Practice and Professor of Marketing at Singapore Management University) and along with three other staff Mr. Chan Chi Wei and Mrs. Sheetal Bhardwaj (Case Writer of Center for Practice Management Singapore Management University), and Mrs. Havovi Joshi (Head of Communications and Dissemination for the Center for Practice Management Singapore Management University).

On Saturday, November 12, 2016 Guest Lecture from Deloitte Indonesia held a discussion about Internal Control Over Financial Reporting (ICFR) for Accountant Profession Education Study Program, Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Gadjah Mada (PPAk FEB UGM). This lecture aims to provide a sharing session for students about the practical aspects of ICFR. The main speaker was Mr. Abdiansyah Prahasto, Manager of Risk and Operation Consultant at Deloitte with about 5 years of experience in this field.

On Friday, November 18, Department of Accounting, Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM) together with KPMG Indonesia held a public lecture with a topic of “Audit for E-Commerce Industry”. This lecture aims to broaden students’ knowledge on the emerging business in the world, particularly in Indonesia which is the e-commerce. The lecture was held in Djarum Hall, Pertamina Tower level 6 and was open for public. Two prominent speakers from KPMG Indonesia are invited, Bapak Agung Nugroho Sudibyo (Senior Partner of KPMG Indonesia and Lecturer at University of Indonesia) and Bapak Angga Pujaprayoga (Senior Manager of KPMG Indonesia).

Faculty of Economics and Business UGM started the construction of Learning Center for students and lecturers. It is equipped with facilities, such as library, reading room, collection room, discussion room, training room and auditorium. It has eight floors, measuring 6,207.14 meter square in total and will cost Rp44.3 billion to build. The source of funding comprises the internal faculty, university loan and sponsors from Djarum Foundation.
