The 13th Annual ASEAN Graduate Business and Economics Program (AGBEP) Network Meeting and Conference will be held in Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta, Indoneisa on April 2 – 4 2013.

We cordially invite the academics and students in the areas of business and economics to attend and present paper in the conference. The host of the conference is the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta, Indoensia. For this conference, we request articles or research works, either theoritical or practice-based are relevant to the theme. The 13th Annual AGBEP Conference and Meeting will include sharing sessions on issues facing the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) 2015.

Session 1: Business Cases in ASEAN-China

The committee of the 13th AGBEP Meeting and Conference invites its member universities to prepare a compilation of business case from companies operating in the South-East Asian region. The business case studies in this compilation can be used in a variety of business courses.

Further, preparation of the compilation can also enhance cooperation among members of AGBEP in improving the quality of the learning process.

Session 2: Some Dilemmas in International Financial Reporting Standart (IFRS) Adoptions in Indoensia and ASEAN Countries

The adoption of IFRS standards is a burning issue in the field of accountancy. Adoption of these standards in the Asian region has not been uniform. It was expected that the adoption of these international standards would lead to greater earnings quality. However, some empirical evidence suggests otherwise. Also, the adoption of IFRS was expected to change the way earnings management is conducted in Asian countries. Whether this has occurred is not yet clear.

Further, Asian countries now have two different reporting systems – the Anglo and Continental business systems. This difference in national business systems is expected to lead to differing quality in reporting systems throughout the region improving the quality of the learning process.

Session 3: Property Economics, Management, and Valuation

The field of property economics provides knowledge on how to identify, optimize, and assess the assets of business entities and government institutions. The property market offers economists a variety of issues and provides  an excellent laboratory for economic inquiry.

The Interaction between property market, the financial system, and macroeconomics is the subject of increasing research and policy interest. Credit availability, demand for property and assets, property and asset price determination are all related areas of exploration. Further, land-use, the impact and sustainability of new builds, economic and social  issues related to properties are also critical areas requiring analysis.

Session 4: Doctoral Colloquium

The conference will also include a doctoral colloquium for students in the fields of economics, accounting and management to present and discuss their research. Doctoral students who wish to attend the colloquium are required to submit full paper maximum 20 pages.
