Rapat Terbuka Senat Fakultas 2022

As the highlight of the 67th Anniversary of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM), on Monday (19/09) the 2022 Open Senate Meeting was held on the 8th Floor of the FEB UGM Learning Center Building. The Open Senate Meeting was opened by the Chair of the Senate, Prof. Ainun Na’im, M.B.A., Ph.D, accompanied by the Secretary of the Senate, the Dean, and the ranks of the Professors of FEB UGM, totaling 28 lecturers. The event was attended by invited guests consisting of university managers, managers of faculties and study programs, alumni, partner representatives, lecturers, education staff, and students.

The agenda of the event continues on the delivery and reporting of the Dean’s Speech in 2022 by Prof. Dr. Didi Achjari, S.E., M.Com., Akt., as the Dean of FEB UGM. This year’s 67th Anniversary has the theme “Building A Sustainable Economic Environment through Collaboration.” This theme was raised because of the importance of mutual cooperation from all elements of the nation in facing all changes to achieve national prosperity through sustainable economic development. It is a challenge for FEB UGM to contribute in providing constructive solutions for the nation and state. “To take part and contribute to solving global and national problems, FEB UGM continues to improve and escalate the quality of education, research, and community service on an ongoing basis,” explained Prof. Didi.

At the age of 67, FEB UGM has made so many achievements both at national and international levels that cannot be written down one by one. In his speech, Prof. Didi stated that 10 study programs within FEB UGM had “Excellent” status and 4 study programs were accredited “A” by BAN-PT. In addition, this year FEB UGM also made proud achievements in the QS World University Ranking 2022 by Subject, one of them being ranked first nationally for Business and Management Studies. FEB UGM also continues to develop networks with partners and until mid-2022 there are 36 new partners, one of which is the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA). At the end of his speech, Didi expressed his highest appreciation to all civitas and various parties who have contributed and worked hard to advance FEB UGM.

Then, the event continued with a Scientific Oration delivered by Prof. Dr. Mamduh M. Hanafi, M.B.A. with the title “Looking for an Explanation of Financial Market Behavior: Rational, Irrational, or Adaptive?.” In his speech, he stated that academics are currently still struggling with the question of what drives investor behavior in financial markets. This scientific oration aims to discuss the literature in the fields of market efficiency, behavioral science, and adaptive markets, with various empirical tests. The discussion began by discussing market efficiency (Efficient Market Hypothesis), followed by Behavioral Finance, and continued with the Adaptive Market Hypothesis (AMH).

The 2022 Open Senate Meeting ended with the reading of a prayer and the cutting of tumpeng as a celebration of the 67th anniversary of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada. We hope that the entire academic community of FEB UGM will always be given health and ease in trying to give their best for the progress, honor, and glory of our beloved FEB UGM. Happy birthday, FEB UGM!
