Water waste management has emerged as a critical issue as the world grapples with the impacts of climate change, urbanization, and population growth. According to the United Nations, nearly two billion people experience water scarcity, underscoring the urgent need for sustainable water management practices. "The importance of efficient water waste management cannot be overstated and required particular attention," said Prof. Gassan Hodaifa Meri, a Biochemistry and Biotechnology Professor at Pablo de Olavide University, Spain.
He gave the lecture of Water Waste Management on MASUDEM Teacher Training which was held on Monday-Friday, 24-28 June 2024 at the Master of Business Administration (MBA) Program, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM). This training was attended by 20 participants, consisting of lecturers and research assistants from FEB UGM and the Faculty of Engineering UGM, who have an interest in and focus on wastewater management studies.
Steering Committee/Project Manager MASUDEM UGM, Prof. Nurul Indarti, Sivilokonom., Cand.Merc., Ph.D., explained that the training program was designed to provide participants with the tools and knowledge to implement effective water management strategies and technologies following the MASUDEM main goal to ensure environmental sustainability.
