The Faculty of Economics and Business of Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM) organized a pilgrimage to the graves of former deans, professors, and lecturers of FEB UGM in Sawitsari, Kotagede, and Glagah Tamanan, Gunung Sempu, and Sidoarum. This event was part of the activities leading up to the 69th anniversary of FEB UGM, celebrated annually on September 19.

The pilgrimage, held on Friday, September 6, 2024, was led by the Dean of FEB UGM, Prof. Dr. Didi Achjari, M.Com., C.A. The event was attended by lecturers, professional staff, retirees, and the FEB UGM Women’s Association (DWP). In his remarks, Didi said that the pilgrimage is a routine event organized by FEB UGM to pay respect and remember the contributions of the predecessors who played a role in the development of the faculty.

“The development of the faculty to what it is today is undoubtedly due to the good deeds of our predecessors, which we can emulate. Through this pilgrimage, we remember their kindness and pray that their good deeds and contributions to the faculty become a reward for our departed senior colleagues,” he said during the prayer session before leaving the FEB UGM on Friday (6/9).

The pilgrimage and laying of flowers at Sawitsari Cemetery was conducted at the graves of former deans, including Prof. Dr. Soedijono Reksoprajitno, M.B.A., Prof. Dr. H. Bambang Riyanto, M.Sc, Prof. Dr. Sukadji Ranuwihardjo, Prof. Dr. Dibyo Prabowo, M.Sc., Prof. Dr. Sukanto Reksohadiprodjo, M.Com., Prof. Dr. H. Nopirin, M.A., and other professors and lecturers of FEB.

Afterward, the pilgrimage and laying of flowers at Kotagede Cemetery took place at the graves of former deans, including Prof. Kertanegara, S.H., and Dr. Soetatwo Hadiwigeno, M.A. The pilgrimage honored FEB UGM professors and lecturers buried at Glagah Tamanan, Gunung Sempu, and Sidoarum Cemeteries.

Dr. Evi Noor Afifah, S.E., M.S.E., Coordinator of the 69th Anniversary of FEB UGM in the Social and Community Service Department, said that in addition to the pilgrimage, FEB UGM also organized visits to the homes of retired faculty and professional staff. FEB UGM carried out this activity to maintain relations with those who have contributed to the development of FEB UGM.

“The purpose of this visit is to strengthen ties with retired faculty and professional staff and to express our gratitude for their role in the growth of FEB UGM,” she explained.

The visits to 50 retired faculty and 31 professional staff occurred over several days, specifically on September 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 10th, 2024.
