MM FEB UGM Wins Best Master’s Program Award at The 2024 PD DIKTI Awards

The Master of Management (MM) program at FEB UGM Yogyakarta and Jakarta campuses achieved a remarkable milestone by being recognized as the Best Master’s Program at the 2024 PD DIKTI Awards during the Malam Anugerah Insan UGM Berprestasi 2024 held at Grha Sabha Pramana UGM on Wednesday evening (November 13, 2024).

This achievement reflects the professional management and strong commitment of MM FEB UGM to provide quality education. Prof. Amin Wibowo, S.E., M.B.A., Ph.D., Chairman of the MM FEB UGM Program, explained that the program has emphasized professionalism, which includes admissions, academic activities, and alumni networking. “With our new vision and mission emphasizing sustainability, MM FEB UGM has introduced sustainability-related courses and established a concentration in sustainability and a specialized program, the ASEAN MBA in Sustainability Management. We continue to expand our international collaborations with more than 40 global partners,” he said recently.

Amin emphasized that this achievement significantly enhances the reputation of both MM FEB UGM and FEB UGM. In addition to increasing the confidence of international partners, it also creates more significant opportunities for students and faculty to participate in exchange programs, dual degrees, and scholarships.

The success of the MM FEB UGM program in securing the 2024 PD DIKTI Award is based on several fundamental factors, with a strong commitment to improving the quality of education being a key element.

“Regarding quality, MM UGM, FEB UGM, and the relevant departments have continuously worked to improve standards – whether it be faculty, students, or the educational process. These improvements have fostered considerable trust among our partners, encouraging them to collaborate with our program,” Amin explained.

In addition to human resources, an evolving curriculum is another critical element. The curriculum is designed to meet international standards and incorporates a framework AACSB accreditation supports. “This framework guides us in refining various standards, including learning standards, to ensure that every process is done professionally and systematically,” he added.

Professional program management was also critical. The MM FEB UGM program applies high standards in its administration. Decisions are made through extensive discussions to ensure the best approaches to program development. Professionalism in teaching, coupled with active collaboration with alumni and the business community, remains an integral part of maintaining educational quality.

Amin emphasized that MM FEB UGM integrates the development of cognitive skills with soft skills to prepare graduates who are competitive in the workforce. A prominent initiative in this regard is the Leadership Enhancement and Acceleration Program (LEAP), which focuses on strengthening communication skills, teamwork, and self-promotion.

“This program complements academic activities with leadership training, including leadership camps and discussions with professional executives. Students also gain direct insights from business leaders, helping to shape their leadership skills beyond the classroom,” he explained.

A hallmark of the MM FEB UGM approach is real-world experiential learning. Students are exposed to real-world workplace scenarios that allow them to apply the leadership and cognitive skills they have acquired. MM FEB UGM regularly invites companies to engage directly with students through recruitment processes, allowing them to connect with top talent.

MM FEB UGM remains committed to excellence by providing domestic and international learning opportunities. These efforts include increasing the number of students receiving scholarships, collaborating with international institutions, and involving faculty from partner universities abroad as teaching and research collaborators. The program also fosters synergies between academia and the business sector.

To maintain this momentum, Amin urged all stakeholders in the program, including faculty, students, and professional staff, to continue to enhance their professionalism and quality.

“We encourage faculty to build international networks and develop their academic skills, while students are expected to study hard and hone their leadership skills. Meanwhile, professional staff must enhance their skills, particularly in mastering information technology and foreign languages, to support increasingly complex and dynamic operations,” he concluded.
