The Mubyarto Public Policy Forum is an annual public policy forum series named in honor of Professor Mubyarto, a prominent economist at Universitas Gadjah Mada, who was one of Indonesia’s most influential intellectuals on rural development issues between the 1960s and 1990s. The goal of the forum is to stimulate a debate on key development policy issues in Indonesia. The primary target groups are key policymakers in government agencies, international institutions (including donor agencies), and internationally oriented business leaders, as well as senior academics, economic researchers, and graduate students. This annual major academic and policy forum is organized by the ANU Indonesia Project, in collaboration with the Faculty of Economics and Business at Universitas Gadjah Mada.
This year, the 9th Mubyarto Public Policy Forum (MPPF) returns with the theme “Poverty and Welfare Reform in Indonesia.” The forum will feature Dr. Sudarno Sumarto, who will deliver a keynote address reflecting on two decades of welfare policy reform in Indonesia. His presentation will highlight the critical role of evidence-based policymaking in shaping effective and inclusive welfare programs.
