The Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM), has demonstrated its commitment to delivering internationally recognized doctoral education by commencing the inaugural classes of the International Doctorate in Business (IDB) program. This first face-to-face session marks the beginning of an academic journey for doctoral candidates aspiring to contribute to the global scholarly community.
The first cohort consists of eight selected students with diverse professional and academic backgrounds. This diversity should enrich classroom discussions, deepen cross-contextual analysis, and foster innovative research collaborations.
The first day of lectures, held on February 11, 2026, was designed to be intensive and well-structured, featuring three class sessions covering two core courses: Applied Behavioral Science, taught by Prof. Amin Wibowo, S.E., M.B.A., Ph.D., and Philosophy of Science, taught by Prof. Dr. Eduardus Tandelilin, M.B.A. The sessions were highly interactive and dynamic, featuring constructive, engaging discussions.
The academic agenda continued with the IDB Connect Welcoming Dinner, which brought together students with university leaders, faculty executives, program administrators, lecturers, and the program development team. This occasion not only officially welcomed the new students but also strengthened academic networks and outlined the learning and research roadmap for their doctoral studies.
The commencement of this program reflects FEB UGM’s readiness to provide globally competitive doctoral education. By combining disciplined in-person learning with a supportive academic environment, the IDB programme aims to produce graduates who are academically excellent and capable of becoming thought leaders on the international stage.
