The Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM), will host the International Doctorate in Business (IDB) Doctoral Colloquium from 2 to 4 September 2026 at the MBA FEB UGM Jakarta Campus. The event will bring together prominent international scholars, business executives, and doctoral candidates to strengthen research collaboration, advance executive doctoral education, and explore solutions to contemporary business challenges.
The colloquium forms part of FEB UGM’s International Doctorate in Business (IDB), a premier international doctoral program designed specifically for senior executives and experienced professionals. By integrating extensive professional experience with theoretical and methodological rigor, the program enables executives to transform industry-based insights into academically rigorous and practically relevant contributions. Through this approach, the IDB seeks to cultivate a new generation of practitioner-scholars capable of generating meaningful impact in both academic and professional settings.
Since its launch, the IDB program has attracted fourteen applicants. Following a rigorous selection process, eight executive professionals from reputable companies were admitted to the inaugural cohort, with seven progressing to the second semester. This strong initial interest reflects the growing demand for internationally oriented doctoral education that combines academic excellence with relevance to real-world business challenges.
The IDB’s international standing has been further strengthened through strategic collaboration with Hochschule Osnabrück, Germany, supported by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). This collaboration encompasses program development, institutional capacity building, and academic staff mobility. The International Doctorate in Business Doctoral Colloquium represents one of the key initiatives arising from this partnership.
The program will commence with a Research and Scientific Writing Workshop on 2 September, followed by the main IDB Doctoral Colloquium on 3 September 2026. The event features discussions, research presentations, and scholarly exchanges aimed at helping doctoral candidates strengthen their research designs, sharpen their analytical capabilities, and enhance the academic and practical relevance of their work.
The colloquium is officially opened by the leadership of Universitas Gadjah Mada and FEB UGM, including Prof. Dr. Wening Udasmoro, S.S., M.Hum., DEA., Vice Rector for Education and Teaching, Universitas Gadjah Mada; Prof. Didi Achjari, Dean of FEB UGM; Prof. Nurul Indarti, Head of the Department of Management and IDB Program Chair; members of the FEB UGM executive team; and the IDB organizing committee.
Distinguished international academics participating in the colloquium include Prof. Dr. Kai-Michael Griese and representatives from Hochschule Osnabrück, Germany; Prof. Renato Pereira from ISCTE Business School Lisbon, Portugal; and Prof. Prem Chhetri, Ph.D., from RMIT University, Australia.
“The IDB Doctoral Colloquium provides an important platform for our candidates to broaden their perspectives, refine their analytical skills, and strengthen the quality and impact of their research,” said Prof. Dr. Wening Udasmoro in her welcoming remarks.

These efforts are expected to generate opportunities for joint research, academic and staff mobility, cross-border educational programs, and sustainable partnerships with leading institutions worldwide.
