UGM Students Win 3rd Place in Management Case Analysis Competition 2018 at Universitas Jenderal Soedirman

Three undergraduate students of Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM) joined in the Saedi team, namely Damas Pandya Janottama (Management 2017), Irfan Fawwas Nabil Ramadhan (Management 2017) and Wisnu Wardhana (Accounting 2017), win the 3th Place Winner in Management Case Analysis Competition (M-SESSION) 2018 held by the Student Association of the Department of Management, Faculty of Economics, Universitas Jenderal Soedirman.
Management Case Analysis Competition or M-Session 2018 is an annual business case competition held at Universitas Jenderal Soedirman, which this year carries the theme "The Young Generation dare to make a strategy in millennial era".
The M-Session 2018 consists of three stages, namely the preliminary case stage, the preliminary stage, and the final case stage. In the preliminary case, each team is required to provide strategies and innovations to solve Surya Yudha's BPR business problems. This stage is followed by a preliminary stage which is followed by 15 teams with the best scores.
The allowance stage consists of several rounds, namely solving problems, critical thinking, and debate. On solving problem round, participants were asked to provide solutions and prepare presentations on the Sambel Layah Group (SL Group) problems in 45 minutes. Furthermore, there is critical thinking round where participants will be given a question and answer it within 5 minutes in front of 3 judges with academic background. Then, the debate continued with a motion with the theme of contemporary economics. The Saedi team itself got a pro position with a motion "A bad sharing economy for developing countries". On the mini gala dinner, 5 teams with the highest scores were announced who could proceed to the final stage.
The final case stage consists of the field trip and final case stages. The Field Trip round was held at CV. Fajar Jaya, a garment company in Purwokerto, where participants are required to observe and look for problems there. The next day, a final case round was held where participants were given 1 hour to answer and prepare a presentation on a business case at CV. Fajar Jaya. The Saedi team from FEB UGM then presented a business solution for CV. Fajar Jaya with the title "Saedi Solution: Operational Innovation and Human Resource in Facing Tailor Dependence" in front of four judges consisting of practitioners and academics. At the end of the competition, the FEB UGM Saedi team was finally declared to be the 3th Place Winner by the judges.
