
A warm and enthusiastic atmosphere filled the closing night of Global Summer Week (GSW) 2025, held at Amaranta Prambanan on Friday evening (July 25, 2025). After two weeks of learning, collaboration, and cultural exchange, dozens of students from various countries officially concluded their journey in the program themed “Innovative Business Models for a Sustainable and Inclusive Future.”
Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, Collaboration, and Alumni Affairs of FEB UGM, Gumilang Aryo Sahadewo, S.E., M.A., Ph.D., expressed his pride in successfully implementing this year’s GSW. He noted that GSW 2025 felt special thanks to its innovative learning model and engaging, relevant topics.
“This program is not only about academic learning, but also about cross-cultural experiences that expand your network. I hope you will become champions in your respective countries with a richer perspective. Thank you for making GSW an outstanding success!” he remarked.
Meanwhile, Gunawan, B.Sc., M.Sc., Dipl.Stat.Ec., Ph.D., Chair of GSW 2025, also expressed his appreciation for the spirit and enthusiasm shown by the participants through their active participation and fresh ideas.
“The most important takeaway from this program is not only academic but also the contribution, opportunity, and experience you’ve gained. Hopefully, this program will inspire you to keep moving forward,” he said.
Throughout the two-week program, participants not only attended lectures but also engaged in a variety of enriching cultural experiences. Kien Ngo, a student from Vietnam currently studying at the University of Canterbury, was one of the participants who shared his impression of the program.
“I feel a real bond with the friends I’ve made here. The lectures were excellent, but the experience went far beyond that. It has been an extraordinary journey, and I highly recommend it,” he shared enthusiastically.
Several awards were presented in group and individual categories during the GSW 2025 closing ceremony. The Best Student award was given to Kien Ngo from the University of Canterbury, while the Committee’s Choice award went to Bulan Rimadhina Seva Kartika from Universitas Gadjah Mada.
The Best Group award was earned by Group 1, consisting of Ahmad Nushhi bin Dr Supri (Universiti Brunei Darussalam), Almadhea Aurely Tristina (Universitas Negeri Surabaya), Shafira Pramatya (Universitas Negeri Surabaya), Bilqis Irbah Fatimah (UGM), Rayhan Maulana Ahmada (UGM), Erlangga Aravi Nugroho (UGM), and Muhammad Azka Rasyid Alfarabbi (UGM).
The Outbound Winner award was presented to Group 6, comprised of Le Minh Khoi (University of Canterbury, Sebastian Dittmer Isbye (Copenhagen Business School), Dewi Puspitasari (Universitas Negeri Surabaya), Aleea Anindita Herlambang (UGM), Darryl Rafa Vinan Halpito (UGM), Vania Elysia Nabil Rokhman (UGM), and Teuku Rafael Rafferty (UGM).
The Fun Game Winner title was awarded to Group 2, whose members were Sarah Adlina binti Muhamad Ali (University of Canterbury), Mikkel Stjernholm Micheelsen (Copenhagen Business School), Ditya Hanun Aqila (Universitas Negeri Surabaya), Bulan Rimadhina Seva Kartika (UGM), Annisa Kamilia Saktinegara (UGM), Raga Jati Rabbani (UGM), and Mohammad Pradana Abijan Rifiar Abidin (UGM).
Global Summer Week is an annual flagship program hosted by FEB UGM since 2014. This year’s edition carried the theme “Innovative Business Models for a Sustainable and Inclusive Future” and took place over 12 days, from July 14 to 25, 2025. Fifty-seven students from eight universities across nine countries participated in various activities, including executive talks, lectures, field visits, social entrepreneurship projects, and cultural experiences that enriched their learning journey.
