Badan Keahlian DPR RI

The Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Expertise Board of the Secretariat General of the People’s Representative Council of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR RI) online through zoom meetings, Friday (18/02) at 08.30 Jakarta time. The signing was carried out by Prof. Dr. Didi Achjari, SE, M.Com., Akt. As the Dean of FEB UGM with Dr. Inosentius Samsul, SH, M. Hum. as the Head of the Expertise Body of the DPR RI. This activity is carried out in the context of research, study, and other academic activities.

In his speech, Dr. Inosentius Samsul, SH, M. Hum. expressed the hope that the DPR RI Expertise Board with this signing could expand partners so that the goal of having a sufficient academic basis could be achieved. The DPR is an institution that has the constitutional right to determine various strategic policies in this country. Samsul emphasized that this collaboration is a process in which the academic world or experts contribute their thoughts. This collaboration is very interesting because it is hoped that FEB UGM can provide views and opinions regarding regulations and draft laws that will be adjusted and analyzed according to existing interests.

Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Didi Achjari, SE, M.Com., Akt. stated, as higher education institutions and academics, it is very important to contribute, especially through objective and independent studies so that the resulting legislation products are strong. The faculty also hopes that the products of legislation produced by the DPR or critical discussions conducted by the government can be carried out scientifically, namely based on data and scientific studies, not merely political interests. Didi explained that lecturers at UGM can provide views and criticize various draft laws according to their respective expertise.

According to Didi, FEB UGM students need to understand how the DPR and the Expertise Board work. If students are invited to think about how to draft laws or regulations, students are expected to understand and be able to socialize with other students. Didi also advised that in making regulations, scientific studies must be strong. With this collaboration, he also hopes to work together in terms of lectures, such as guest lectures. That way, the DPR can provide enlightenment on how the registration process can run so that it can produce a draft law.
