The International Undergraduate Program (IUP) at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM), stands out as a prestigious academic program offering an international learning experience. With extensive global networks, prestigious accreditations, and various opportunities for global exposure, this program attracts many prospective students. What makes IUP FEB UGM unique?
Advantages of IUP FEB UGM
Bayu Sutikno, S.E., M.S.M., Ph.D., Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs at FEB UGM, representing IUP FEB UGM, explained that IUP FEB UGM was established in 2007 and offers three programs: Accounting, Management, and Economics. Since 2014, the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) has internationally accredited IUP FEB UGM, just like its regular counterpart. The Independent Accreditation Agency for Economics, Management, Business, and Accounting (LAMEMBA) has nationally accredited it as “Unggul.”
In addition to its international accreditation, Bayu highlighted FEB UGM’s extensive global network, which includes more than 70 partner universities in Asia, Europe, and Australia.
He explained on Thursday (February 6, 2025) during the “UGM Update” session on Understanding the IUP Program in the Social Sciences Cluster—streamed live on UGM’s Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube—that the IUP program offers students a global experience through various international exposure programs, including double degree programs, student exchanges, and summer or winter courses.
Bayu emphasized that high-quality faculty, excellent facilities, and various student activities support FEB UGM’s academic environment, helping students develop their interests and talents throughout their studies.
He also noted that all IUP classes are taught entirely in English. In addition, IUP students have more opportunities to pursue double-degree programs with partner universities and to interact with international students studying at FEB UGM, allowing them to build a global network.
Career Prospects
Bayu explained that each program within the IUP FEB UGM offers different career prospects. Graduates of the Management program have broad career opportunities in the corporate sector, both nationally and internationally, and opportunities to pursue higher education or become entrepreneurs.
Accounting program graduates have strong career prospects in public accounting firms (KAP), financial institutions, and the banking sector. FEB UGM has also integrated information technology developments in accounting by offering courses related to IT applications in auditing and other modern accounting needs.
Meanwhile, graduates of the Economics program have excellent career opportunities as economic analysts or economists who focus on analyzing and forecasting economic conditions and their future impact.
Admissions Process
The application for the first class of IUP admissions opened on January 14 and will close on February 18, 2025. The entrance exams will be administered in person from February 27 to March 2, 2025, with results announced on March 6, 2025.
