Amid the increasingly fierce competition in the job market, students must continuously hone their soft skills and gain relevant work experience. However, many students still face various challenges in developing and preparing themselves before entering the professional world.
Addressing these challenges, Faculty of Economics and Business at Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM) in collaboration with the Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (IOH), organized the “INSPIRE Career Week 2025: Career Preparation Talkshow” at the Audio Visual Room, 1st Floor of FEB UGM on Friday (23/05/2025).
Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, Collaboration, and Alumni Affairs, Gumilang Aryo Sahadewo, S.E., M.A., Ph.D., expressed his enthusiasm for the talk show. In his remarks, he highlighted the challenges fresh graduates face in entering the workforce, particularly with the rapid advancement of technology such as artificial intelligence (AI), which can potentially replace human roles in various areas. According to him, students must build their soft skills and technological capabilities today. “Hopefully, through this event, students can learn, grow, and better prepare themselves for the realities of the job market,” he stated.
EVP-Head of Circle Java at Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, Fahd Yudhanegoro, also emphasized IOH’s commitment to engaging with students and bridging the gap in the job market. “At Indosat, we want to help young people develop themselves and upgrade the soft skills they need,” he added.
The event also introduced IOH’s flagship program, INSPIRE (Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison Apprenticeship Experience), a six-month internship program for final-year students and fresh graduates. The program runs annually and is divided into two phases, the first three months focus on foundational knowledge in business, telecommunications, and technology, followed by a second phase that involves innovation implementation and a final presentation.
This year, INSPIRE offers 30 internship slots, with 10 participants each from Central Java, East Java, and the Bali–Nusa Tenggara region. The internship will occur from July to December 2025, with registration open from May to June 2025.
Through this series of events, students are expected to gain practical insights about the professional world directly from industry practitioners and find opportunities to grow in the telecommunications and technology sectors. This aligns with FEB UGM’s mission to nurture future-ready leaders in economics and business.
