The Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM), continues to strengthen its commitment to fostering an inclusive and sustainable campus environment. One concrete step taken is the provision of two new elevators designated explicitly for members of the academic community with disabilities or those experiencing physical or health limitations.
The Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs of FEB UGM, Bayu Sutikno, S.E., M.S.M., Ph.D., stated that the provision of this facility is part of FEB’s efforts to ensure that all members of its academic community, including students, have equal access to learning facilities.
“FEB UGM has installed two new elevator units in the Undergraduate Program building and the Master of Science and Doctoral Program building, specifically designated for members of the academic community with disabilities or those with physical or health limitations,” he explained on Monday (23/2/2026).

With the addition of these elevators, Bayu hopes that students in need will find it easier to access classrooms, the library, and other academic facilities. It will enable them to participate in the learning process optimally and comfortably.
“We hope that students who require these facilities can more easily access learning resources and engage in the learning process joyfully,” he said.
Bayu emphasized that accessibility is a crucial aspect of creating a welcoming, inclusive campus atmosphere that supports the well-being of the entire academic community. This facility not only functions as a mobility aid but also reflects the institution’s social responsibility and commitment to the principle of equality.
“The addition of these dedicated elevators aligns with FEB UGM’s mission and its commitment to creating a campus atmosphere grounded in sustainability,” he added.
Meanwhile, for students without mobility limitations, Bayu encouraged the use of stairs as an alternative form of light physical activity within the campus environment, as part of promoting a healthy lifestyle.
