Fifty years ago, they sat in classrooms filled with youthful spirit and big dreams. Today, they return to campus as living proof that the education and friendships formed at FEB UGM have led them to diverse service paths. The Golden Reunion of the KAFEGAMA Class of 1975 is more than a nostalgic get-together—it reflects where their dreams once took root.
The reunion, held at the Alumni Corner of FEB UGM on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, drew dozens of alums who traveled from various regions. That morning was filled with nostalgia, as they reminisced about different corners of UGM. Back then, people still knew FEB UGM as the Faculty of Economics (FE), and classes took place in the Main Building of UGM.
“Do you remember when we used to have classes on the third floor of the Main Building? So many memories—rushing to class late, and of course, the joy of eating SGPC together,” recalled Dr. Joni Swastanto, Chair of the KAFEGAMA 1975 Reunion Committee.
Joni also shared that the term “kafe,” now commonly used in FEB UGM circles as part of “KAFEGAMA,” originated from their cohort.
“We’re proud that the term ‘kafe’ was born from our generation,” he said.
Dean of FEB UGM, Prof. Dr. Didi Achjari, S.E., M.Com., Ak, CA., expressed his appreciation for the alums’ contributions, especially in supporting students through scholarships and providing learning equipment. He emphasized that alum support is a driving force behind FEB UGM’s efforts to realize inclusive education for all segments of society.
“We are committed to ensuring that students from diverse backgrounds, including those from remote areas, receive equal access and opportunities. To this day, we continue to ensure that all students from various regions can access education,” he explained.
Prof. Didi also stated that FEB UGM remains dedicated to improving campus infrastructure to create an inclusive learning environment, particularly for students with disabilities.
“We realize that in the past, the campus may not have been fully accessible for persons with disabilities. Various facilities now support inclusivity thanks to improvements and upgrades. We hope you can see how our campus continues to be cared for and developed from generation to generation,” he added.
