Designing the Future Together with FEB UGM Alumni

Planning goals after completing a university education are very important for students. To discuss this interesting topic, the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM) held a seminar with alumni of FEB UGM on Tuesday (23/08) at the Learning Center Building, FEB UGM. Seminar alumni sharing has the theme "Design Your Future". This seminar is intended explicitly for FEB UGM students who will be graduating this August. The goal is that graduates and graduates get briefed on things that need to be prepared and done after graduating from FEB UGM.
The event opened with remarks given by Gumilang Aryo Sahadewo, SE, MA, Ph.D. as Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, Cooperation, and Alumni. Gumilang said that after graduating from FEB UGM, the graduates had to determine the next steps to be taken, both in the short and long term. Many passions can be cultivated to increase the abilities out there that can be prepared from now on. He also advised that the plans made must be executed properly and require a strong commitment because when going through the career path there will be many challenges to be faced.
The first speaker of the seminar with alumni was Galih Mekar Arumsari, 2013 Alumni of Economics FEB UGM who currently works as a copywriter. In his forum, Galih said that as a child of FEB, we can get many jobs. To find out the right career, students can do a career trial and error. He also said that before becoming a copywriter, he had worked in NGO companies, and logistics, and finally decided to work in the creative industry. Galih is happy with his profession because he can brand a brand he holds, brainstorm, create ideas, and compete with other big agencies. Galih conveys the message that the jobs available are very diverse so don't be afraid to try and it's okay to make mistakes now and then.
Furthermore, the second speaker who will fill the seminar is Satrio Sakti Utomo, an Alumni of Management FEB UGM 2014. Satrio currently works as a Functional Officer of Industrial and Trade Extension (PFPP) in the Yogyakarta City Government as well as a Co-founder of Tom's Milk and Maraville Coffee businesses. Satrio explained that after graduating from college, many things can be done, including opening a business, becoming a private employee, civil servant, continuing to study, becoming a lecturer, and participating in internships. He also provides some tips that can be used after graduating from college, namely trying as many opportunities/experiences as possible, actively establishing new relationships and connections, attending classes, boot camps, skill development workshops, building a business if there is an opportunity, and preparing a CV, LinkedIn profile, and learn interviewing skills.
The last speaker was Rahma Miranda who is an Accounting Alumni FEB UGM 2016 and is currently an Accounting Associate at Tokopedia and is also one of the recipients of the Indonesia Maju Scholarship. Rahma explained that after graduation we must have career planning & determine goals. He shared that the things he took when he was working as an Accounting Associate at Tokopedia were that he was able to manage the pressure he got, measure his goals, be more diligent, be himself, and love himself more. He advised that this life is a milestone. Therefore, we must ensure that the previously set goals of life have been achieved or not.
The seminar was followed by a question and answer session between the speakers and participants. The students asked about the business the speaker runs and related experiences in finding work. After that, the event continued with giving plaques to each speaker and closed with a group photo.
