The selection process of the most outstanding student of Universitas Gadjah Mada 2012 has been completed. The selection is done in two phases; firsts phase was held on May 5 to 7, 2012 at the Center for Development and Education and Personnel Development (P4TK) Art and Culture Yogyakarta. The assessment is in the form of administration and scientific papers written Indonesian and foreign language by the jury and experts of UGM. The second phase was held on May 15, 2012 in the form of psychological tests and writing achievement.
The jury has decided the following winners:
- 1st place: Herwandhani Putri - Faculty of Pharmacy
- Runner up winner : Detiza Goldianto - Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science
- Third place: Gresika Bunga Sylvana - Faculty of Economics and Business
- Fouth place: Rahmi Khamsita - Faculty of Pharmacy
- Fifth place: Nuzul Sri Hertani - Faculty of Medicine
- Sixth place: Faelasufa - Faculty of ISIPOL

Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Gadjah Mada graduated 66 bachelor students in its third period of the academic years of 2011/2012 on Tuesday, May 22, 2012. The graduates students comprises of 62 graduates from Regular and International programs, and 4 graduates from part-time program.
The highest cumulative grade point (GPA) for undergraduate program is achieved by Gagah Aji Pambudi (Accounting 2008) with his GPA 3.94. 29 graduates are awarded for cum laude. The other four graduates are awarded for the fastest study accomplishment (3 years 5 months), they are Arfian Erma Zudana (Accounting 2008), Pramesthi Nindya Prasasya (Management 2008), Fika Muti Putri (Management 2008), Astari Widuri Estika (Management 2008).

Sub Directorate of Leadership Quality Improvement (PPKB) in collaboration with the Sub Directorate of Student Administration and Development Universita Gadjah Mada, Directorate of Student Affairs UGM University Directorate of Student Affairs organizes Qualified Leadership Training and the Selection process of the most outstanding student in the university level. According to the Head of Acceleration Buddy of Quality Improvement UGM (Saha, Zulfa Purnamawati, SS, M. Hum., such activity is carried out in order to prepare candidates for outstanding students who will represent UGM in the national level and compete with students from other universities across Indonesia. The activities have been implemented in P4TK Arts and Culture Yogyakarta for three days, on May 4-6, 2012. "The selection is performed to prepare candidates for outstanding students from UGM to the national level," said Zulfa, on Tuesday (8/5).
According Zulfa, there are 31 outstanding students selected by faculty who are nominated for further selection at the university level. After having assessed the grade point average (GPA), extracurricular activities, and English papers, the committee has selected six candidates for the final stage of selection.
"In the end of the final stage there will be one student representing UGM for the nation wide competition.", she said.
The six candidates are Detiza Goldianto (Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences), Rahmi Khamsita (Faculty of Pharmacy), Herwandani Putri (Faculty of Pharmacy), Nurul Sri Hertanti (Faculty of Medicine), Gresika Bunga Sylvana (Faculty of Economics and Business), and Faelasufa (Faculty ISIPOL).
Despite of the selection process, students will be provided with leadership training from by PPKB UGM. Training activities are conducted both inside and outside the class. The students will be provided with exercises on how to write and publish scientific papers as well as how to deliver a presentation in English. The activities conducted outside the class will cover the out-bond activities aimed to strengthen cooperation.

Prospective students who wish to join the National Admission Test for State Universities (Seleksi Nasional Masuk Perguruan Tinggi Negeri/SNMPTN) are strongly advised to read this information. Prof. Dr. Ir. Budi Prasetyo, Widyobroto, DEA., DESS., the Chairman of the Local Committee of Yogyakarta, explains to reporters on Monday, May 7 at his office of Academic Administration Services Universitas Gadjah Mada that SNMPTN registration is officially opened on May 10 to May 31, 2012. The registration is on line by accessing the page http://ujian.snmptn.ac.id. "For those who have already signed up SNMPTN Invitation Phase and are awaiting the results announcement on May 28, they are as well welcome to inscribe.
As scheduled, SNMPTN Admission test will be conducted simultaneously on June 12 to 13 with one test questions applied for all test takers accross Indonesia. Whereas the Skills Test will be on June 14 to 15 in state universities that has study programs chosen. "In Yogyakarta, the skills test will be conducted in UNY according to the study program," he said.
SNMPTN registration process is similar to the previous year. What is bit different that this year students do inscription by transferring the registration fee via appointed bank. They will then receive registration access card and a registration number. Students are required to fill out information in the web page of SNMPTN. "For last two years high school graduates as well as last years’ they are as well given time in between May 10 to May 31 for inscription," said Prof. Budi Prasetyo.
Answering reporters' questions in anticipation of “joki” (a third party working illegally and paid to assist a test taker) through the online registration, Prof. Budi Prasetyo said that supervisor committee will attempt to perform the verification process one hour before the exam. This year UGM will accept 3.442 new bachelor students through SNMPTN test.

Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Gadjah Mada congratulates Andreas Kurniawan (Economics 2009) and the team from UI and ITB who has successfully passed the national selection on the P&G ASEAN Business Challenge 2012 was held on April 26, 2012 in Jakarta. Next they will represent Indonesia to follow P&G ASEAN Business Challange 2012 in Singapore on June 2012.
Hopefully this achievements can be advocates for students to perform better again.

Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) UGM in partnership with Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) launches their program 'BRI Entrepreneurial People'. The signing of a memorandum is made by the Director of Research and Training of Economics and Business (P2EB), Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Gadjah Mada, Dr. Anggito Abimanyu and the Chairman BRI Yogyakarta Regional, Eko Wahyu Andriastono, on Tuesday (3/4)at Auditorium Pertamina Tower FEB UGM. Director of UMKM (micro small medium enterprises) BRI, Djarot Kusumayakti also presents in the occasion.
Director of P2EB FEB UGM, Dr. Anggito Abimanyu delivers this program designed to create the best UGM entrepreneurial with strong social minded, innovative, and competitive. The program is also targeted to attract UGM students to be innovative entrepreneurs.
"The program is intended to encourage the best UGM students to become entrepreneurs who can create new employments," he said.
Dr. Abimanyu adds, this program is aimed to build a new paradigm for outstanding students to become entrepreneurs. "these days entrepreneurship is considered as job which is because of ‘accident’, lived with whom are not welcome in the empolyment world due to the lack of GPA. Hence, we should change the entrepreneurship world with highly achieved graduates for it is the foundation of the nation's economy," he explained.
"This program does not only provides an opportunity for students to become entrepreneurs," said Dr. Abimanyu. For the business it is expected to encourage the birth of new products that are innovative and creative, to improve the quality of market competition, and to strengthen the regional economy. As for FEB UGM, it is expected to create graduates who grow to be job creators. And for BRI will strengthen its image as the bank supporting small and medium business units.
BRI Entrepreneurial People's Program is for UGM alumni who graduate last three years and final year students when register. Having minimum GPA of at least 3.00 is a must. "There are three selection steps in this program; the selection made by FEB, product development research using community development funds from BRI, and business starting up by submitting the bankable proposal for further partnership with BRI," said Dr. Abimanyu.
He said that in one year it is targeted to form 10 groups of entrepreneurs. Within five years it will generate 50 groups of entrepreneurs who are expected to successfully manage their business. "Each group will receive a grant of 50 million rupiahs for research and product development with the incentives of three million per month.
Accroding the Director of Small and Medium Business Units BRI, Djarot Kusumayekti, said that 99.98 percent of business people in Indonesia are engaged in the field of entrepreneurship and Small and Medium Business Units. They absorb up to 91.8 million people to work with.
"What is interesting here is the dominance of UMKM is still so great. On the other labors absorbed is as well large and serves to reduce the state burden for it can create employments. In this case the entrepreneur is positioned as a locomotive to lift up the country," he said.
Similar to Dr. Abimanyu, Mr. Kusumayekti said that today being entrepreneurs are not designed early in the young age or even prepared, but they are doing it as if they are forced to become. With the release of this program it is expected to give birth to innovative and competitive entrepreneurs.
"The country will be safe if it has entrepreneurial sector more than 2%, while the number of Indonesian entrepreneurs are still less than 1% that cause huge burden to the nation. The hopes are that this program can generate the seeds of outstanding entrepreneurs who are able to lift up nation burden", he hoped.
The registration of BRI Entrepreneurial People's program will be opened in May 2012. The participants are required to submit executive summary including complete business plan. The final round will be in July and followed by a presentation to investors in August 2012. The announcement of winners will be released at Faculty Anniversary on September 2012.
