Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Gadjah Mada held a graduation ceremony for 69 people of undergraduate program in the second period of academic year 2011/2012, located at University Club. Graduates comprised of 64 people from regular and international program, and 5 people from swadaya program.
The highest Cumulative grade point (GPA) Faculty of Economics and Business UGM achieved by Soraya Ayu Hapsari (Management 2008) with GPA 3.92. The youngest graduate of Univerisitas Gadjah Mada in this period achieved by Romi Bhakti Hartarto (Economics 2008) who successfully passed a degree at the age of 19 years 5 months 12 days.

Wastenergizer, the student team from MM FEB UGM, has successfully passed the national selection on Global Social Venture Competition 2012 and may continue to represent Indonesia in Southeast Asia regional selection to be held at Thammasat Business School, Bangkok, Thailand on March 16-18, 2012.
Furthermore, the selection of regional winners on Southeast Asia will be represented in the final of the worldwide competition to be held at the University of California Berkeley in April 2011.

Saturday (14/01), Journal of Indonesian Economy and Business (JIEB) Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Gadjah Mada, held a prestigious event, Seminar Best Paper Award 2011. This seminar was the scene of the presentation of research results of the academicians who won JIEB's Call for Paper 2011.
The event, held at Faculty Meeting Room, 5th floor MM UGM begins with remarks from Prof. Wihana Kirana Jaya, M.Soc.Sc, Ph.D. as Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni, Cooperation, and Business Development, followed by Prof. Mudrajad Kuncoro, M.Soc.Sc, Ph.D. exposure about the series Call for Paper 2011.
The event was opened by Dr. Didi Achjari, M. Com as Vice Rector for Finance and Information Systems UGM. Moderated by Sudiyanti, M. Sc, seminar presenter presents four winners call for papers, namely M. Paradise (Bogor Agricultural University), Amri Anjas (Indonesian Stock Exchange), Syarwani Canon (Gorontalo State University), and Harijono (Universitas Kristen Satya Wacana Salatiga).
After the presentations and discussions with participants, Prof. Suwardjono, M.Sc., Ph.D. announced the winner. In consideration, the editorial board decided JIEB winners in the following order, Amri Anjas (2nd winner), Harijono (3th winner), M. Firdaus, et al (1st runner up), M. Muflih (2nd runner up), and Syarwani Canon (3nd runner up). The event ended at 12.30 pm with delivery of prizes to the winners.

Universitas Gadjah Mada, again, won another competition at the national level. Three of its students became the best essay writers in FREWTION 2011: Freedom Writing Competition Youth Scratch, Eradicating Unemployment in Indonesia!, held by Student Executive Body of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Faculty, University of Indonesia (UI), from 21 September to 18 November 2011.
The students are M. Reza S. Zaki (Faculty of Law Class 2008), Aryo Dwi Harprayudi (Faculty of Social and Political Sciences Class 2009), and Bhima Yudhishthira (Faculty of Economics and Business Class 2008). M. Reza S. Zaki proposed a paper entitled Political Axioms for Constructing Work Opportunity in Indonesia, Aryo Dwi Harprayudi wrote an article entitled Indonesian Unemployment is Going Down (Down to Grandchildren of Indonesian People), while Bhima Yudhishthira wrote Challenges of Indonesian Unemployment in Facing the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) 2015.
In the competition, all participants submitted articles containing opinions and constructive criticism on the issue of unemployment in Indonesia. In discussing the issue, participants may use one of the four points of view provided, namely politics, economics, sociology, social and education.
M. Reza S. Zaki said that selected papers will be published in a book and sold widely to the public. The book launching will be held in mid-January 2012 in the Hall of Bank Syariah Mandiri (BSM) in Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, UI. The profit of book sale will be donated to non-governmental organizations engaged in poverty alleviation through employment.
Regarding the achievement, Zaki said that this event proved the cooperation among students who participated actively by selling ideas for the interest of the community who lose employment opportunities. "We hope for literacy climate which is not only exclusive, but also able to provide direction for the ideals of this nation," Zaki said.

Aisha Karimawati, FEB UGM students majoring in Management class of 2006 was selected as UGM Student Achievement 2011. Aisha, also listed as one of the national training athletes in roller skates sport that also contributed to a silver medal for Indonesian contingent in the event SEA Games-26th 2011, that took place in Jakarta-Palembang some time ago.
All academics society of the faculty congratulate to Aisha Karimawati for success has been achieved, hopefully this achievements could encourage other students to excel again.

Three students of the Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM), they are: Usman Arief, Mahadzir Lukman, and Dwi Ari Kurniawati. They has won as 1st winner at the National Scientific Writing Contest in March 2011 in Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta on November 19-21, 2011.
The competition is organized by the Student Association of Accounting Department of Economics Faculty of UNS with the topic "Strategies Indonesia Facing Competition in the Context of Free Trade ACFTA." Faculty management and academicians of FEB UGM congratulated on the achievements enumerated by the three students and hopefully can be advocates for students to perform better again.
