The Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM), in collaboration with the Adam Smith Business School, University of Glasgow, will host a special forum commemorating the 250th anniversary of Adam Smith’s seminal work, The Wealth of Nations.

The forum aims to revisit Adam Smith’s enduring contributions to economic thought and explore their relevance to contemporary economic and policy challenges. Bringing together leading scholars and practitioners, the discussion will examine how Smith’s ideas continue to influence debates on economic development, public policy, financial systems, and institutional reform.

- Professor Soner Baskaya (Adam Smith Business School, University of Glasgow)
- Dr. Denni Puspa Purbasari (Economist and former Head of Indonesia’s Kartu Prakerja Program)
- Dr. Rimawan Pradiptyo (Faculty of Economics and Business, Unversitas Gadjah Mada)
Through an interdisciplinary exchange of ideas, the forum seeks to strengthen academic collaboration between FEB UGM and the Adam Smith Business School while connecting classical economic thought with contemporary policy issues. The discussion is expected to generate valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities facing emerging economies in an increasingly complex global environment.
