The shadow economy, economic activities that go unrecorded, poses a challenge to a country’s economy. This phenomenon not only results in lost potential state revenue but is also closely linked to money laundering practices that can damage the stability of the financial system.
A lecturer from the Department of Accounting, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM), as well as a Forensic Accounting expert, Rijadh Djatu Winardi, S.E., M.Sc., Ph.D., CFE., CFrA., explained that the shadow economy includes all economic activities, both legal and illegal, conducted without official business registration.
The Story of Three FEB UGM Students Excelling in the Taekwondo Arena

Victory does not come instantly. It grows from consistent training habits, maintaining performance, and the willingness to keep learning. Three students from the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM), achieved outstanding results by excelling in taekwondo at the Gadjah Mada Student Sports Week (PORSENIGAMA) 2025.
They are Fadlillah Nur Maulidina (Management 2024), who won 2nd Place in Individual Poomsae Female Category A; Muhammad Bagus Diwangkara (Management 2023), who secured 3rd Place in Kyorugi U-80 Male; and Amanda Nayla Wardhana (IUP Accounting 2025), who achieved 2nd Place in Kyorugi O-73 Female.

WormiBox, an IoT-Based Organic Waste Decomposer Created by FEB UGM Students

The issue of organic waste remains a significant challenge in Indonesia. Poorly managed household waste accumulation not only worsens environmental pollution but also contributes to climate and public health problems.
Driven by this concern, Vidhyazputri Belva Aqila, an Accounting student from the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) UGM, class of 2023, together with four Universitas Gadjah Mada students, initiated WormiBox—an Internet of Things (IoT)-based organic waste decomposer that utilizes worms as a decomposition medium to promote a circular economy.
