The Research Group on Information Systems and Digital Transformation (ISDT) at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM), organized the SIDEK-ERP Implementation Training for Strengthening the Digital Accounting Ecosystem through a Teaching Factory (TEFA) Collaboration between Vocational High Schools and MSMEs on 7–8 July 2026 at Room U-213, FEB UGM. The program aimed to strengthen the digital accounting ecosystem through strategic collaboration involving students and teachers from SMKN 2 YPKK Sleman and SMKN 1 Godean, particularly those majoring in accounting, as well as micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
Head of the Department of Accounting at FEB UGM, Prof. Sony Warsono, MAFIS, Ak., CA., Ph.D., explained that the program marked the beginning of a series of roadshows to be held in various cities. The training focused on modernizing financial record-keeping by transitioning from traditional paper-based accounting to an integrated digital system.
“Accounting education has long been associated with manual bookkeeping using paper, journals, and accounting columns. Through this training, we aim to bring accounting into the digital era so that transaction recording and financial management are no longer carried out using conventional methods,” he said.
Sony added that the training not only equips participants with technical skills but also encourages a mindset shift better to prepare them for the industry’s increasingly digital demands.
“Traditional methods can still be used. However, once participants enter the workforce, they will realize that accounting is the heart of every company or organization. Therefore, digital transformation in accounting has become essential,” he added.
Through this program, Sony hopes participants will gain a better understanding of how technology, particularly Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, can support more effective and efficient business processes.
During the two-day program, participants attended a session on accounting digitalization delivered by Haryono, Drs., M.Com. Ak., CA., Lecturer at the Department of Accounting, FEB UGM. They also participated in hands-on training on implementing the SIDEK-ERP application within the Teaching Factory (TEFA) learning model, facilitated by Uswatun Khasanah, M.Sc., a Research Assistant at the Information Systems and Digital Transformation (ISDT) Research Group, FEB UGM.
