UGM Team Won 1st Place in Call for Paper International Accounting Week 2017

UGM Team, Nur Hayatiningsih (Accounting 2014) and Rayu Agasti (Accounting 2013) had successfully won the 1st Place in Call for International Accounting Week 2017 (IAW 2017) held by Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta.
The big theme of IAW 2017 was Tax for Sustainable Development, while the theme for the Call for Paper emphasized on the Accounting sectors, such as: Public Sector Accounting, Financial Accounting, Accounting Sharia, Auditing, and Accounting Information System. Call for Paper Competition consisted of two phase; paper selection and the final round. Undergraduate and vocational students participated in the event. There were 23 teams participated in the first phase and 7 teams passed to the final round. The 7 teams participated in the final round were the teams from Universitas Negeri Semarang, Universitas Sebelas Maret, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, Universitas Bung Hatta Padang, Universitas Brawijaya and Universitas Gadjah Mada.
In the final round, each teams presented the paper for 15 minutes and was continued by the question and answer session. The questions were from the other competitor team and the board of judges for 5 minutes. UGM Team presented paper titled Strengthening Internal Control (COSO 2013) to Overcome Peer to Peer Lending Risk (PSP Lending)
The title was chosen as a consideration of a significant growth in P2P Lending business which is reaching up to 135 companies in Indonesia. Besides, Otoritas Jasa Keuangan (OJK) has published policy POJK No. 77 Th. 2016 titled Technology Based Money Laundering Service on 28 December 2016. Thus, it is urgent to strengthen the internal control to mitigate the business risk.
