The Faculty of Economics and Business of Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM) and the Faculty of Economics of Universitas Muhammadiyah Sorong have established a collaboration in education, research, and community service.
The partnership was made official with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) by FEB UGM Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, Cooperation and Alumni, Gumilang Aryo Sahadewo, S.E., M.A., Ph.D. and FEB Universitas Muhammadiyah Sorong Representative, Susetyowati Sofia, S.E., M.M. on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at the Kertanegara Room, FEB UGM.
Gumilang Aryo Sahadewo enthusiastically welcomed the cooperation initiative. He highlighted several innovations in his remarks, especially in developing undergraduate curricula. Integrating artificial intelligence (AI) and information technology into the accounting program curriculum is one of these initiatives.
"In the Accounting program, we have introduced curricular innovations to meet the challenges of the AI and big data revolutions by incorporating data science aspects. We now offer seven new courses in information systems," he explained on Wednesday (4/12).
In addition, FEB UGM has developed the Debit Credit Information System for Education (SIDEK Edu) platform for accounting education. This application is used not only for campus-based student learning activities but also for high school students (vocational schools) in Central Java, East Java, and Lampung. The SIDEK ERP platform has also been developed to help MSMEs prepare financial statements.
"There are many opportunities for further cooperation in the future," he added.
Zakiyah Anwar, M.Pd., Head of the Education and Teaching Development Institute at Universitas Muhammadiyah Sorong, expressed her gratitude during the event. She explained that Universitas Muhammadiyah Sorong focuses on curriculum development to meet modern challenges. She hopes that FEB UGM can help them in this endeavor.
"We are improving our curriculum to meet the needs of our stakeholders, and we hope that FEB UGM can help us in this process," she said.
This collaboration is expected to be a strategic step in addressing the increasingly complex demands of education and industry while strengthening the commitment of both institutions to the sustainable implementation of the Tridharma of Higher Education.
