FEB UGM Library Holds Training on the Latest Version of Refinitiv Eikon

Pelatihan Refinitiv Eikon

The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) Library at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) conducted a training session on Refinitiv Eikon on Monday, February 17, at Computer Laboratory B, FEB Learning Center Building. The session aimed to introduce students to Refinitiv Eikon as a key financial and economic data source and to familiarize them with its latest user interface, set to be rebranded as Refinitiv Workspace in June 2025.

Gabriela Sutisna, Client Success Manager at Refinitiv Indonesia, led the training. She assured participants that despite the name change and interface updates, all features, data, and codes would remain unchanged, eliminating concerns for existing users.

Refinitiv Eikon is available in two versions: a web-based platform and a downloadable application for personal computers or laptops. The primary difference lies in data retrieval—while the web version requires users to manually download and transfer data to Excel, the application version enables direct integration with Excel Workspace. Among students, the web version remains the most commonly used.

The software is particularly beneficial for students conducting thesis research or other academic projects, as it provides comprehensive financial, investment, economic, and company data. It also offers extensive information on financial markets, central bank interest rates, and economic overviews, covering both financial and non-financial data that can be customized to meet users’ needs.

For users needing charts or graphs, Refinitiv allows direct export and citation of visual data from Refinitiv Workspace, eliminating the need to create them manually.

To access information on the Jakarta Composite Index (JKSE), users can search for “Jakarta Stock Exchange Composite Index (JKSE)” within Refinitiv. This provides access to a range of menu options, including news and events, comparative analysis, shareholder ownership data, financial reports, and detailed company information. However, data on private companies may be limited.

Refinitiv’s comprehensive features support investment decision-making by providing in-depth company stock analysis, ownership structures, investor types, comparative financial analysis, and debt maturity details.

Students interested in accessing Refinitiv Eikon can visit the FEB UGM website, navigate to the Academic section, click on the Portal, and select Access to Refinitiv Eikon. For further assistance, they can contact the Library Unit during working hours.

Additionally, students can enhance their learning through various business education materials available on the Refinitiv Eikon website. By visiting the Learning Center, selecting the Catalog menu, and choosing the desired materials, they can access a range of free resources to expand their knowledge and skills.
