The Faculty of Economics and Business at Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM) held an Iftar Gathering for its academic community on Friday (3/7/2025) at the Alumni Corner of FEB UGM. The event served as an opportunity to strengthen relationships and foster a sense of unity among FEB UGM’s academic members.
Faculty representatives, student delegates, and professional staff from 14 programs within FEB UGM attended the gathering. FEB UGM invited Dr. H. Khoiruddin Bashori, M.Si., as the guest speaker for the Tausiyah (Islamic Sermon), where he delivered a spiritual message on happiness and Ramadan as a time for transformation.
In his remarks, the Dean of FEB UGM, Prof. Dr. Didi Achjari, S.E., M.Com., Akt., expressed his gratitude to all attendees for their participation.
“It is truly a pleasure to gather with all of you in good health. In the next hour, we will listen to an inspiring Tausiyah that will bring valuable insights to us all,” he stated.
Prof. Didi also announced that FEB UGM would be hosting three Iftar gatherings throughout Ramadan, scheduled for March 7, March 14, and March 21, 2025.
Meanwhile, Dr. Khoiruddin Bashori began his Tausiyah by addressing the concept of human happiness. He explained that true happiness is measured by life satisfaction, citing an example of a fulfilled family in which both partners find contentment in each other. He further elaborated that happiness is achieved when positive emotions outweigh negative ones.
He also reminded the audience that life is a test, bringing both challenges and joys. On this occasion, he emphasized that Ramadan serves as a period of spiritual transformation, allowing individuals to become better versions of themselves. He highlighted key indicators of spiritual growth, including radiating kindness and increasing generosity through acts of giving and sharing.
