The Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM), welcomed benchmarking visits from the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang (FEB UMM), and the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Veteran Jakarta (FEB UPNVJ) on Friday (June 13) at the Kertanegara Meeting Room. The visit focused on discussions around curriculum development, facilities, technology integration in learning, and managing international programs at the undergraduate level.
Dr. Miguna Astuti, S.Si., MM., MOS., CPM., CIRR., representing UPNVJ, stated that the university is establishing an international Accounting Program class. Therefore, they aim to learn from FEB UGM’s experience managing similar programs.
“We are here to learn about establishing an international program at FEB, particularly in the Accounting Program, including its development and management structure,” said Dr. Miguna, Head of the Establishment Team for the International Program at FEB UPN Veteran Jakarta.
Similarly, Drs. Adi Prasetyo, M.Si., Ak., CA, Vice Dean II of FEB UMM, expressed interest in gaining insights into the programs, available facilities, and the curriculum implemented at FEB UGM.
Arizona Mustikarini, Ph.D., Head of the Global Relations and Mobility Office (GREAT) at FEB UGM, introduced the study programs available at the faculty. FEB UGM offers 14 academic programs across undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels under three departments: Accounting, Management, and Economics. In addition to providing an overview of the academic programs, she presented FEB UGM’s pre-incubation business program, which included coaching, mentoring, and grants. Some student-run businesses have successfully grown and are now operating on campus, such as cafés and barista booths.
“We hope this discussion will inspire positive innovations in curriculum development, learning technology, and education internationalization at each institution,” said Arizona.
Choirunnisa Arifa, S.E., M.Sc., Ph.D., Ak., CA., Head of the Undergraduate Accounting Program, explained that FEB UGM conducts annual curriculum evaluations to respond to regulatory changes and industry demands. In the Accounting Program, for example, elements of AI, technology, and information systems have been incorporated into the curriculum.
“We integrate technology through seven ICT-based courses and incorporate sustainability aspects aligned with International Education Standards (IES) and the Indonesian Institute of Accountants (IAI),” she explained.
Muhammad Ryan Sanjaya, S.E., M.Int.Dev.Ec., Ph.D., Secretary of the Undergraduate Economics Program, added that an automatic detection system monitors AI usage on campus. According to academic policy, students will be subject to warnings or sanctions if excessive use is detected.
I Wayan Nuka Lantara, Ph.D., Head of the Undergraduate Management Program, highlighted the experiential learning approach applied in the Management Program. Additionally, the program includes one extra credit unit (SKS) dedicated to communication skills workshops, such as marketing communication, negotiation, and leadership—essential for developing students’ practical competencies.
