The Faculty of Economics and Business at Gadjah Mada University (UGM) received a benchmarking visit from the Faculty of Economics and Business at Muhammadiyah University of Purwokerto (FEB UMP) and the Faculty of Economics and Business at State University of Surabaya (FEB Unesa) on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at the Kertanegara Room of FEB UGM. The visit was part of a benchmarking study related to the internationalization programs implemented by FEB UGM.
The Dean of FEB Unesa, Prof. Dr. Anang Kistyanto, S.Sos., M.Si., stated the purpose of the visit to FEB UGM was to learn about internationalization, including the management and development of the International Undergraduate Program (IUP), particularly the development of dual degree programs, as well as the accreditation process by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).
“We want to learn about IUP development because we have only recently started our international program and do not yet have a dual degree program. We also want to learn about AACSB accreditation and hope for guidance from FEB UGM,” he said.
The Dean of UMP, Prof. Dr. Naelati Tubastuwi, S.E., M.Si., expressed a similar sentiment. UMP wants to learn about IUP management and AACBS accreditation.
“Currently, we have 27 international students from 7 countries, but we still have a lot to learn about management. We hope to learn about IUP management from FEB UGM,” she explained.
Meanwhile, the Dean of FEB UGM, Prof. Dr. Didi Achjari, M.Com., Ak. CA., warmly welcomed the delegation from FEB UMP and FEB Unesa. He also shared experiences of internationalization activities conducted by FEB UGM.
“This internationalization process has been a long one. It began in 2004 when we started offering English-language classes. Then, we began offering IUP programs in 2007,” he revealed.
The internationalization program, he continued, is not merely about offering English-language classes to students. Other internationalization initiatives include sending faculty members to teach and pursue postdoctoral programs at partner universities abroad, including through the FEB UGM’s membership in the Network of International Business and Economics Schools (NIBES). Additionally, the admission of students into dual degree programs, exchange programs, and summer courses is all part of the internationalization efforts.
