The academic period is an essential phase in the process of personal development for students. During this period, students are guided to achieve academic excellence and challenged to develop non-academic skills that will serve as valuable assets in navigating the professional world and the dynamics of social life. Competencies such as organisational skills, cross-cultural communication, international experience, and literacy in career opportunities and scholarships are now increasingly essential values for university graduates.
In line with this, the Faculty of Economics and Business at Gadjah Mada University (FEB UGM), through its Career and Student Development Unit (CSDU), in collaboration with the Global Relations and Mobility Office (GREAT), and supported by various student organisations, is hosting Student Week 2025 on Thursday (21/8). This event is designed to introduce students to multiple pathways for personal development. These include exposure to student organisations and communities, internship opportunities, access to scholarship information and student achievements, and international experiences such as student exchange programmes and Double Degree programmes.
With the theme ‘The Blueprint: Architecting Your Legacy’ and the tagline Design the Journey. Build the Legacy, Student Week 2025 is expected to be an inspiring platform for students, especially new students, to explore their potential, interests, and opportunities for self-development in both academic and non-academic fields.
The Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs at FEB UGM, Bayu Sutikno, S.E., M.S.M., Ph.D., expressed his appreciation for the event in his speech. He hoped that students would gain various information about activities supporting their personal development.
“Please explore each booth and gain as much exposure as possible. This demonstrates that FEB fully supports all student self-development activities,” Bayu stated.
During the event, FEB UGM also launched the Gadjah Mada Business Case Club (GMBCC), a community serving as a platform for students to hone their business problem-solving skills while competing in business case competitions. Bayu hopes the presence of GMBCC will bring new achievements that bring pride to FEB UGM.
Student enthusiasm also coloured the event. Anne Grace Pardosi, an Accounting student from the class of 2023, admitted that she gained a lot of new insights regarding scholarship information.
“Until now, there was information that I couldn’t obtain from other sources. I could talk directly with the scholarship awardees through this opportunity,” she said.
Galib Akmal Rizqi, a 2023 IUP Accounting student, expressed a similar sentiment. He said he was happy that Student Week provided information about various student development activities.
“I am thrilled to participate in Student Week. I learned much about the various opportunities FEB offers, ranging from student exchanges and scholarships to cool organisations that can help students develop non-academically,” he said.
