FEB UGM Launches GMB Case Club, the First Student Case Club in Indonesia

Gadjah Mada Business Case Club

The Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM), through the Career and Student Development Unit (CSDU), officially launched the GMB Case Club. GMB Case Club is a community that provides a platform for students to develop business case-solving skills while preparing them to compete in prestigious competitions at both national and international levels.

The establishment of GMB Case Club marks a significant milestone, as it is the first case club in Indonesia dedicated explicitly to undergraduate students. The mentors who initiated this initiative have recorded over 60 achievements, underscoring FEB UGM’s commitment to nurturing young talent ready to compete globally.

At the launch event, Nathaniel Christianto Kuniardi, President of GMB Case Club, highlighted three significant challenges commonly faced by students pursuing business case competitions. First, a resource gap, namely, limited access to quality learning resources such as well-structured frameworks and materials. Second is a knowledge gap, which refers to insufficient fundamental business knowledge to apply to real-world cases. Third, a mentor gap, meaning the lack of guidance from experienced individuals who can provide direction and personalized feedback.

“Students are not lacking in talent, but they do not have the same opportunities in terms of mentoring or access to equal knowledge,” he stated.

GMB Case Club adopts the case club model, which major universities worldwide have established. GMB Case Club offers comprehensive training as a student organization. Members receive direct guidance from mentors who are alumni of national and international competitions and interactive training that enhances strategic thinking, analytical skills, and presentation abilities. More than just training, GMB Case Club also provides networking opportunities, enabling students to connect with peers, mentors, and industry leaders while building a valuable portfolio for their future careers.

As the official case club under FEB UGM, GMB Case Club offers a range of benefits that make it a strategic platform for student development. Through this program, members will learn directly from experienced mentors with proven track records in national and international competitions. They will also be equipped with solid case-solving foundations using real cases from leading companies, bridging the gap between business theory and practice. The learning process is packaged interactively and practically to sharpen analytical skills, business acumen, and presentation techniques.

Furthermore, GMB Case Club prepares students to represent FEB UGM in prestigious competitions at national and international levels. Other benefits include sustainable self-development, boosting self-confidence, honing critical skills, and preparing students for future career challenges. The club also offers extensive opportunities to network with fellow members, mentors, and industry leaders, potentially opening doors to future career opportunities.

Bayu Sutikno, S.E., M.S.M., Ph.D., Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs of FEB UGM, warmly welcomed the establishment of GMB Case Club. He expressed his hopes that the presence of GMB Case Club would pave the way for new achievements that bring pride to FEB UGM.
