The Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM), organized a Disability Awareness Workshop from October 21 to 23, 2025, at the Faculty Meeting Room, 5th floor of the Master of Management Building, FEB UGM. This activity aimed to equip professional staff with the knowledge and practical skills necessary for delivering services to individuals with disabilities, while strengthening the faculty’s commitment to creating an inclusive and welcoming campus environment for all.
The three-day workshop focused on three types of disabilities: physical disabilities, visual impairments, and hearing impairments. Experienced speakers and facilitators with disabilities from Bawayang Production, an inclusive community based in Yogyakarta, led each session. Among the speakers and facilitators were Muh. Arif Wijayanto, Sulistyo, Barokah, Akbar Ariantono Putra, Zakka Nurul Giffani Hadi, Arif Wicaksono, Rieka Aprilia, and Desta Ariyana Pertiwi. They shared their experiences and best practices in building communication, accessibility, and empathy toward individuals with disabilities.
Nur Bakti Susilo, S.E., Ak., CA., ASEAN CPA, CTIA, Head of the Administrative Office of FEB UGM, stated that the training was conducted to demonstrate the faculty’s commitment to raising awareness and enhancing the skills of professional staff to provide inclusive services, including those for persons with disabilities.
“Through this activity, we hope that all elements of the faculty can actively participate in creating a learning environment that is comfortable, equitable, and respectful of diversity. This activity will continue on an ongoing basis,” Nur said.
Through this workshop, FEB UGM reaffirms its commitment to supporting the principles of equality, diversity, and inclusivity. It also enhances the faculty’s contribution to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goals 4: Quality Education, 10: Reduced Inequalities, 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, and 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
