Curiosity, the courage to step out of comfort zones, and the eagerness to keep learning shape the foundation of a professional career in today’s competitive era. Professionals from PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Indonesia) shared this message directly with students of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM) during the PwC Campus Hiring event at FEB UGM.
Sriwani Sadhu, Senior Human Capital Manager at PwC Indonesia, emphasized that career development is not built solely on technical skills. Career development also encompasses essential soft skills, including communication, collaboration, and leadership. Similarly, at PwC, these skills are developed to encourage the career development of its employees.
Meanwhile, Tody Sasongko, Director of PwC Indonesia, emphasized the importance of fostering curiosity to support career development. According to him, curiosity encourages people to continue learning to understand problems and find solutions. “Many fail not because they are incapable, but because they are unwilling to try and lack curiosity. The more we know there is a problem, the more we learn to solve it,” he said on Friday (31/12/2025) at the Alumni Corner Room, FEB UGM.
Foreign Direct Investment Specialist Narindra Krisnamurti emphasized that success in the workplace depends not only on technical skills but also on the willingness to keep learning. He highlighted the importance of understanding the job context and having the courage to acknowledge mistakes.
“Willingness to learn is essential. Having the courage to say that we are not always right shows professional maturity,” he explained.
Senior Manager Enterprise Application SAP at PwC South East Asia Consulting, Riesky Kurniawan also highlighted the importance of courage in facing the world of work. He also emphasised that good communication and English language skills are essential added values in a career.
Raihan Pradhana, Manager at PwC Advisory, Capital Projects & Infrastructure, shared his reasons for choosing PwC, citing the company’s competitive advantages and extensive client base, which provide diverse work experiences. He believes that working at PwC opens up great opportunities to learn from various industries while building a vast professional network. According to him, self-preparation includes not only technical skills, but also effective presentation and networking skills.
PwC encouraged students to approach the recruitment process with authenticity and professionalism. The firm emphasized that applicants should not only meet the required qualifications but also present themselves confidently and genuinely. When preparing a curriculum vitae (CV), students should actively highlight their key strengths through relevant skills and experiences. Since the CV serves as the first impression between an applicant and a recruiter, it must effectively reflect motivation, academic achievements, and practical experience gained from internships, projects, or part-time jobs. PwC also advised students to tailor each CV to the specific position they are applying for and to review it carefully to maintain clarity and professionalism.

The PwC team not only discussed how to create compelling CVs but also shared practical tips on approaching job interviews. They emphasized that interviews go beyond simple question-and-answer sessions—they are chances for candidates to demonstrate their personality, eagerness to learn, and readiness to take on challenges. The team encouraged applicants to prepare thoroughly by studying the company’s profile and culture, practising clear and concise responses, and showing confidence while remaining humble. Participants were also reminded not to hesitate to ask questions that show their interest in the company. Small steps, such as sending a thank-you note after the interview, also reflect professionalism and appreciation for the selection process.
FEB UGM’s Vice Dean for Finance, Assets, and Human Resources, Suyanto, S.E., M.B.A., Ph.D., expressed his appreciation for the event, which resulted from ongoing collaboration between FEB UGM and PwC Indonesia. He noted that this year marked the second time PwC had organized a similar event at FEB UGM as part of a long-term partnership that includes case lectures, audit simulations, and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing. Through these initiatives, FEB UGM and PwC aim to help students gain deeper insights into the professional world, particularly in leading Public Accounting Firms (KAPs) such as PwC.
