Two weeks of shared learning, cross-cultural discussions, and exploration of inclusive business practices across Indonesian industries came to a warm conclusion. A total of 62 students from Austria, Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom wrapped up their journey in the Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM) Global Summer Week (GSW) 2026 with a Gala Dinner at Amaranta, Prambanan, on Friday (24/7/2026). The evening celebrated friendship, international collaboration, and learning experiences that extended far beyond the classroom.
Dean of FEB UGM, Prof. Didi Achjari, stated that GSW 2026 served not only as an academic program but also as a platform to foster cross-cultural friendships, broaden global perspectives, and strengthen the belief that business and innovation can be powerful forces for creating a more inclusive society.
“Throughout the program, you not only learned concepts in the classroom but also explored inclusive business models through visits to industries such as Sabila Farm, Chocolate Monggo, DOWA Bag, and Ameya Livingstyle Indonesia. You witnessed sustainable farming practices, participated in interactive workshops on empathy and design thinking, and collaborated with peers from different cultural backgrounds to develop group projects,” he said.
He expressed his hope that participants would return home with more than just a certificate. More importantly, they would carry valuable knowledge, meaningful experiences, and lasting friendships back to their respective countries and universities.
Nur Aliyah Shakira Binti Muhd Daniel, a participant from Universiti Brunei Darussalam, shared that GSW had been an unforgettable and rewarding experience.
“Global Summer Week has been an invaluable opportunity for me to gain insights from a global perspective. Beyond the academic sessions, I had the chance to meet new people and build new friendships. It is an experience that I will always cherish,” she said.
During the closing ceremony, the organizing committee also presented awards to participants who demonstrated outstanding performance throughout the program. The Most Active Student – Fun Games award was presented to Daryl Rafa Vinan Halpito (Universitas Gadjah Mada), while the Top Performer – Fun Games award went to Jayasundara Walpola Kankanamalage Nethmi Pabasara Jayasundara (University of Glasgow). The Best Outfit award was presented to Liam Ross Kohing McKenzie (University of Canterbury).
For the Best Group – Outbound category, first place was awarded to Group 1, consisting of Sylvie Grace Elizabeth Hall (University of Canterbury), Xuenjie (University of Glasgow), Ghifari Amirul Tsani (Politeknik Negeri Malang), Pradipta Aryya Kusuma (Universitas Gadjah Mada), Akhmad Ibrahim Santosa (Universitas Gadjah Mada), Made Katrina Maura Gracia (Universitas Gadjah Mada), and Adelia Emily Fathiara (Universitas Gadjah Mada). Second place was awarded to Group 6, comprising Ridho Azhar Rivaldy (University of Glasgow), Nur Aliyah Shakira Binti M. D. (Universiti Brunei Darussalam), Muhammad Fauzan Altaf Affandi (Universitas Negeri Surabaya), Najwa Aulia Nur Faizah (Universitas Gadjah Mada), Bintang Rizky Yandifa (Universitas Gadjah Mada), Tobias Nokisela Sinaga (Universitas Gadjah Mada), Matthew Nasry Kwejaori (Universitas Gadjah Mada), and Fatimah Keisha Wijaya (Universitas Gadjah Mada).
The Best Group – Fun Games award was presented to Group 7, whose members were Samayla Mahjabin Koishy (University of Glasgow), Muhd Mun’eem Hateem (Universiti Brunei Darussalam), Ghefira Maitsa Zahira (Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember), Mardhiyah Sri Winarni (Universitas Gadjah Mada), Rahel Regina Nataline S. (Universitas Gadjah Mada), Brian Naufal Purnomo Putra (Universitas Gadjah Mada), and Sakti Vitra Purnomo (Universitas Gadjah Mada).
Global Summer Week is an annual program organized by FEB UGM since 2014. This year’s program, held from 12–24 July 2026, carried the theme “Inclusion and Sustainable Value Creation.” Through this initiative, FEB UGM continues to strengthen its international partnerships while providing cross-cultural learning experiences that inspire the next generation of inclusive, globally minded leaders.
