The Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM), welcomed delegations from the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Mercu Buana (UMB) Jakarta, and the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business, UIN Syekh Wasil Kediri, as part of a benchmarking visit to exchange best practices in higher education management. Held in the Kertanegara Meeting Room at FEB UGM on Wednesday (29/07/2026), the visit served as a platform for discussing international program management, quality assurance, academic affairs, research, student affairs, and human resource development.
The delegations were received by the Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs of FEB UGM, Gumilang Aryo Sahadewo, Ph.D., along with faculty leaders and professional staff.
In his welcoming remarks, Gumilang stated that FEB UGM is always open to sharing its experiences in institutional development. He highlighted the faculty’s best practices in academic management, student affairs, research, human resource development, and internationalization strategies.
He also explained that FEB UGM has maintained its AACSB international accreditation since 2014 and that, in 2025, all 14 of its study programs obtained LAMEMBA accreditation. According to him, these achievements reflect the faculty’s commitment to its mission of preparing future leaders in economics and business who can contribute to sustainable development.
During the visit, FEB UGM also shared its experience in managing academic administration, quality assurance systems, human resource governance, and international programs, which have become one of the faculty’s strategic priorities.
The Vice Rector for Learning and Research of Universitas Mercu Buana Jakarta, Dr. Erna Setiany, S.E., M.Si., stated that the visit provided an opportunity for UMB to learn from FEB UGM’s best practices, particularly in managing its International Undergraduate Program (IUP).
She explained that UMB launched its international class in the Management Study Program in 2015 and expanded it to the Accounting Study Program in 2023. Moving forward, the university is committed to expanding international classes across more academic programs.
“We would like to learn about the best practices in managing the IUP at FEB UGM so that the development of international classes at Universitas Mercu Buana can be further strengthened. In addition, we see opportunities to establish student mobility programs and expand academic collaboration with FEB UGM,” she said.
Beyond international program management, UMB Jakarta also expressed its interest in developing collaborations in research and community service, and in expanding partnerships with global institutions.
Meanwhile, the Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business at UIN Syekh Wasil Kediri, Dr. H. Imam Annas Mushlihin, M.HI., explained that his faculty, established in 2018, is still strengthening its institutional governance.
He noted that the visit aimed to gain insights into strengthening internal systems, particularly in preparation for LAMEMBA accreditation, quality assurance management, student services, and alum relations.
“We hope to gain valuable insights from FEB UGM’s experience,” he remarked.
Through this visit, FEB UGM reaffirmed its commitment to advancing the quality of higher education in Indonesia by sharing best practices, strengthening inter-institutional collaboration, and fostering joint initiatives in education, research, and community engagement.
