AACSB International, a globally renowned accreditation board for business schools, has announced a list of 38 business schools around the world that have successfully maintained their excellent quality in business education through the continuation of their schools’ AACSB Accreditation. Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Gadjah Mada is one of the business schools mentioned on the list above. Over a century since its establishment, AACSB has built the highest standard in business education. Passing AACSB’s standard is found to be arduous. It is proven by the fact that there is only 5 % of business schools that had been accredited globally (836 business schools in 55 countries).

This accomplishment of FEB UGM is the hard work of all stakeholders i.e. students, lecturers, staff, faculty senate, university’s management, alumni, partners, and government. The reaccreditation showed how the learning process in FEB UGM had improved sustainably in reference to AACSB’s standard. Fundamentally, the learning process in FEB UGM follows the AACSB principles (engagement, innovation, and impact). “The learning process in FEB UGM is involving many stakeholders to work together for the goal of creating innovative contribution as the manifestation of Tri Dharma Pendidikan Tinggi.”, said the Dean of FEB UGM, Eko Suwardi, Ph. D. “The AACSB re-accreditation proves that the teaching-learning process in FEB UGM has improved continuously as required by AACSB standard. ”In fact, the teaching-learning process in FEB UGM focuses on the engagement, government innovation, and impact”, said Eko Suwardi, the Dean of FEB UGM. The engagement comes in the form of the curriculum which is designed to prepare its graduates to be able to face the rapid changes in the business environment. Industries, institutions, and ministries as the regulators and policymakers are invited to be involved by creating studies and research and bringing real cases in classes. Thus, the curriculum and innovative teaching-learning process are always be renewed. As a result, the teaching-learning process and research are meant to give impacts, not only, for the sake of the development of economics and business but also for the betterment of society.

FEB UGM’s achievement is in line with the theme of National Education Day 2019; strengthening education, advancing cultures by educating human resource with competitiveness, innovation, and integrity. FEB UGM interprets AACSB accreditation as a milestone for stakeholders in order to do the process of continuous improvement in many aspects of education. It is meant to achieve an ultimate goal; to develop leaders with integrity and knowledge needed to serve the society. “We congratulate FEB UGM in maintaining the international accreditation’, said the Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education of Republic Indonesia, Prof. Mohamad Nasir in Jakarta. As Nasir continued, AACSB is not the main goal, instead, this is an instrument to educate graduates who are able to do research, serve the society, competitive, and innovative. In line with the statement, UGM Rector hopes that FEB UGM keeps strengthening the efforts in developing leaders who possess strong integrity and high knowledge to serve the society.
