Holds Open Campus, FEB UGM Invites High School Students to Taste the Lecture World at FEB UGM

Saturday (9/24), the Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM) held an Open Campus event as event for high school students to taste the world of lectures at FEB UGM. This event opens the opportunity for students to attend discussions, sit in class, campus tours, and get to know more about campus life at FEB UGM. Kusdhianto Setiawan, Sivilekonom., Ph. D. as Vice Dean of Finance, Assets, and Human Resources FEB UGM welcomed the students and explained the brilliant prospects of FEB UGM graduates.

“The CEO of Garuda is an alumnus of economics, the CEO of Angkasa Pura I is our alumni, that is also a management student, and there are many more examples. No need to worry about graduating so what, if there is no company that does not want to accept, make it yourself,” he said in remarks. The event was followed by a discussion about the Department Update in the Accounting, Management, and Economics program.

The Accounting Update Department was presented by Sony Warsono, Dr., MAFIS. He said that now all types of businesses need accounting. However, 60% of small business owners feel they do not know about accounting and finance. Sony emphasized that accounting is more than a technical exercise. The Accounting Department of FEB UGM as one of the best accounting departments in Indonesia continues to improve academic activities with an accounting, recruitment, and partnership laboratory.
Rr. Tur Nastiti, S.E., M.Sc., delivered Management Update Department. Management is the science/ art of structured leadership in Planning, Organizing, Leading, and Controlling (POLC). The Management Department of FEB UGM applies a structured curriculum with the AoL System and an adequate environment of discussion and interaction. She questioned participants’ contributions to the nation and closes the discussion by quoting Ms. Sina’s quote “Constant and frequent questioning is the first key to wisdom”.

Department of Economics Update delivered by Gumilang Aryo Sahadewo, S.E., M.A., Ph.D. and Rimawan Pradiptyo, Ph.D. He said that in responding to issues related to the economy, for example, the problem of youth unemployment and inflation, economics is needed. The Department of Economics, FEB UGM applies the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) system to guarantee the quality of education. Economics offers features by offering more human designs. By compiling a fairly simple theory and innovation in the field of research it is hoped that it can make quality education, research, and service.

Next, participants were invited to sample the dynamics of learning at FEB UGM in the “Emerging Issue and Job Outlook” session. Students are grouped into classes according to their intended study program. The classes are filled by lecturers who introduce an overview of lecture material. Then, the students were invited to take a peek at the various facilities available at FEB UGM. The series of events closed with a general information session on admission and exchange, internationalization, and dual degree.
