FEB UGM Holds Campus Orientation to International Students

Orientation Day 2022

On Monday (09/08), the Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM) held an Orientation Day for foreign students of the Undergraduate and Postgraduate Program studying at FEB UGM. This activity was carried out offline in the Auditorium Room, lt. 8 Learning Center FEB UGM and online via zoom meetings from 13.30 WIB. Foreign students who carry out the exchange program, include 48 undergraduate students, 11 Yogyakarta Master Management (MM) students, 3 Jakarta MM Program students, and 1 Master of Science and Doctoral Program student ( MD). These foreign students come from various countries, including Germany, Denmark, the Netherlands, Hungary, France, Canada, Japan, Pakistan, the UK, Norway, Portugal, Bulgaria, Austria, Malaysia, Australia, Kazakhstan, to China. This event aims to introduce the FEB UGM environment to foreign students.

The event was opened with sharing session given by Mr. Adrien Coen to introduce the culture in Yogyakarta to Indonesia. In his presentation, Mr. Adrian introduced Nasi Padang, the Kraton, the habit of ordering food through existing applications, to the problem that Indonesian people often experience, namely colds. Furthermore, Dr. Bayu Sutikno, SE, MSM, Ph.D. as the Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs is very happy to welcome international students at FEB UGM. Bayu hopes that students can adapt and enjoy the experience of studying at FEB UGM and enjoy the natural and cultural beauty that exists in Indonesia, especially Yogyakarta.

Meanwhile, Dr. Vogy Gautama Buanaputra, SE, M.Sc., Ph.D., AFHEA as Secretary of the Accounting Study Program, Dr. I Wayan Nuka Lantara, M.Sc., Ph.D. as the Head of the Management Study Program, Dr. Sekar Utami Setiastuti, SE, M.Sc., Ph.D. The Head of the Economics Study Program explained the academic side of each study program. Furthermore, Dr. Luluk Lusiantoro, Ph.D. as the Head of Global Relations and Mobility Office (GREAT) explained comprehensively the services available at GREAT that can help international students while studying at FEB UGM. The GREAT FEB UGM Public Relations team also introduced existing facilities at FEB UGM such as an online library, procedures for accessing journals on the UGM official website, the location of the academic office, as well as contacts who can be contacted when they need help.

There were also representatives from the Global Leadership Forum (GLF FEB UGM) and the Student Executive Board (BEM FEB UGM) who were also present to introduce the organizations at FEB UGM to international students. In addition, international students were also given an introduction to the KRS mechanism accessed through SIMASTER, the existing academic system at FEB UGM (SINTESIS), and the facilities and units available at FEB UGM which were delivered by Wieda Herdiana, SS, M. Si. , as Head of the Academic and Student Affairs Section. Wieda also explained that during the academic process, students and lecturers will use the WhatsApp application as a place to communicate.
